The Vita is marketed as the console experience on the go. So what's the Vita TV? ...The home console experience on a home console? Just in case you want to play Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD on the big screen... I mean...

The 3DS and 2DS messages do not conflict with one another. But probably very few people will buy the 3DS going forward -- most with choose either the XL or the 2DS.

Vita TV is just odd. It's quite weird. It feels like it's competing directly with the Vita, and yet it kind of is a Vita, but not really.

It won’t affect vita sales which is what i was replying to, it's not just a vita it offers a range of applications reaching different markets. Btw the 2ds does go against the early marketing of the 3ds not sure why you want to single out the vita, both are targeting an entry level consumer.

The 3DS was never marketed towards children under 7. The Vita, on the other hand, was marketed toward home console gamers from the start. It was an attempt to make portable consoles popular among people who didn't usually buy portable consoles. Half the Vita's library is also available on PS3/PS4 -- the main selling point is that you can play those games away from home. So what is the Vita TV? How is it different from the PS3 or PS4 apart from being less expensive and having an arbitrarily slightly different game library?

The Vita TV is for people who are interested in Vita exclusives, but not interested enough to actually buy a Vita... what?

The 2DS is for small children. Maybe it will appeal to some people outside of that target audience, but it has an easily identifiable target audience.

for people who dislike playing on portables (me)

for people wanting to try the vita library but don't wanna shell out $199 for (me)

for people wanting a media box like RokuHD.

For people who wants to stream their PS4 games to other rooms.

etc.

That's just it. I have no doubt that the Vita TV will far outsell the Vita proper. It's significantly cheaper and it appeals more to the Vita target audience than the Vita itself ever did.

So all this does is take away reasons to buy a Vita. Now it has few if any actual exclusives. Don't buy a Vita for Persona 4 Golden or Gravity Rush, you can play those on the much cheaper Vita TV with a much bigger screen. Some people will still buy a Vita for the ability to play them on the go, but more people than were buying the Vita previously? I don't think so.

I don't think it's a bad move, it's just really weird and I don't quite get it. And I think it goes without saying that if the Vita had been a runaway success, we never would have seen anything like this.

Seriously, Dead Rising is not that great. It's a decent franchise, but becomes repeptitive at some point.
