What about games that use front and back touch controls? Vita TV actually sounds great, I'm interested.

well you are using the dualshock. So basically the track pad

Well some games use both, I'm sure they have something in mind though.

yeah I just read that it won't have some games. Only a very few games use both tho so I think that's ok

The thing is this is shipping with a DS3..not a 4 as this is launching before PS4. The true value of this will be once the ps4 launches

This has me wondering whether the normal Vita can do it as well with some form of software update to play Vita games on the big screen.

I'm guessing they will add that in a future hardware revision

Depends on whether or not it will suck your battery dry within an hour...

I think Andrew House just killed the PS Vita in the Western Market.

How so? More Japanese support means more Japanese buyers. Westerners who buy the PSP generally buy eastern supported titles.

I was talking about the PS Vita TV thing. Now people don't have a reason to buy a PS Vita.

But it is a vita :s That like saying no one has a reason to buy a 3ds anymore since there's a 2ds

I think you are looking at this the wrong way. This is basically sony selling a vita with video out + some additional features but cutting the cost of the screen etc. This is essentially, in a way, a new vita model. I think it's great and out of the box thinking for a change.

This has me wondering whether the normal Vita can do it as well with some form of software update to play Vita games on the big screen.

Yea, I imagine just like streaming games from PS4 to Vita is possible it should also be possible to stream from Vita to PS4, to use it's TV connection and play vita games on TV

no idea if they really plan to add that though

If it's possible I don't see why not. It'll increase the value of the Vita even more.

To me the Vita TV seems to be a stripped down Vita that is built for people who mostly play their Vita at home and don't take it out too much. That kind of opens up the sales for games even more by bringing those people in at a lower price point.

TBH if you are using your Vita for this purpose, you would probably have it pugged in with your charger. I mean at that point its kind of like a home console.

I updated the OP for all who miss the conference.

Now can't wait for TGS. Hoping for more surprises.

I am impress with the whole conference. New games, new announcements. This is how you do a conference. Well balanced and focuses on games. SCEA should learn a thing or two from this.

The Vita is marketed as the console experience on the go. So what's the Vita TV? ...The home console experience on a home console? Just in case you want to play Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD on the big screen... I mean...

The 3DS and 2DS messages do not conflict with one another. But probably very few people will buy the 3DS going forward -- most with choose either the XL or the 2DS.

Vita TV is just odd. It's quite weird. It feels like it's competing directly with the Vita, and yet it kind of is a Vita, but not really.

Could be competing but you can't bring VIta TV on the train/Bus/cabs/cars. This will also generate more software sales which is far more important. More software sales more games.

It won’t affect vita sales which is what i was replying to, it's not just a vita it offers a range of applications reaching different markets. Btw the 2ds does go against the early marketing of the 3ds not sure why you want to single out the vita, both are targeting an entry level consumer.

You guys remember the From Software deal

MS with ninja blade and Sony with Demon soul?

It feels like this is like the

MS with Dead Rising 3
and
Sony with Deep Down
