GameCube was too similar to the other consoles and didn't offer any innovate controller compared to the competitors.  Nintendo has to offer unique experiences to stand out.  If Nintendo just did what the other home console makers did then they would never sell more than 20-40m home consoles.

Exactly. Plus, Nintendo doesn't have other divisions/areas to take money for. They are only a videogame company.

he company is still capable of doing amazing games with a GC 1.5 (Wii), so not hurry to upgrade.

the maximun achieved in it's time =/= good. N64 graphics look bad regardless of time because they are bad. just like GC graphics are good, ps360 graphics are amazing and wii u/ps4/xone graphics will reach the perfection level.

no, the problem was ps2 head start + securing exclusivity on most key AAA third parties games for the whole gen. nintendo exclusives were also different on gamecube.

No. I'm not saying that. I'm saying even with the power of Wii they are still capable of amazing games, and with Wii U there's enough for now. No hurry/need to upgrade to compete with XOne/PS4 as they are not in the position to race against those big companies.

NGC was an improvement of N64 but didn't bring anything new and we know how much it sold. They then tried with Wii, a new concept, and it went good. At least they tried with Wii U, but execution was terrible.

Wh not? They have the capital, and its not like they never made the most powerfull console before (N64)

One problem with using this video to support your case. It not only claims that aesthetics should be used to measure how good a game looks, but actually values aesthetics over graphics.


I dont disagree with those points. However, the fact that therei are NO Wii games which have best graphics this gen remains true


Which is fine. I'm okay with Nintendo being justified in heavily prioritizing aesthetics over graphics.

While the competition does both...


And gets locked into an expensive arms race.
