Benefits of PC gaming over console? Being able to upgrade (yet costs associated to upgrades are near the purchase price of home consoles depending on what you are trying to upgrade).

Consoles ever be able to play RTS? See Starcraft 64... Never played it but I heard it wasn't a bad version of Starcraft. Wiimote + Nunchuck seems like it wouldn't be a bad set up for RTS on home consoles (being able to point and select units).

Modding on PC? Sure most mods make playing easier or better. However, I never used any mods when I played WoW and I didn't suffer too much in PvP or PvE. Don't really care for mods that much myself but most PC gamers love them. What I do like is user made scenarios for games such as Civilization. Custom units/scenarios for time specific games (WW2, ancient era, etc)...

Theres some merit to what these guys are saying even though it doesn't discount the value of a console. Consoles are pushing forward just at a pace that a general audience can agree with.

I never get this attitude. pointing out the benefits of something doesn't discount anything. Just like calling out the advanatages of consoles (fixed platform, lots of first party money, ease of use etc) doesn't do anything to discount the advantages of PC.

And as for consoles pushing forward at a pace consumers can agree with. I don't think that is really true at all, on PC you can upgrade software and hardware as your needs, desires and means allow. You could not change your PC for ten years and keep playing new games, or you could upgrade to the latest and greatest tech as it becomes available. By definition PCs advance exactly at the rate that they audience is comfortable with as each person can tailor the advancement to themselves. Consoles advance at the rate that the companies that produce them can agree with. The steep decline in the console industry over the last couple years is a pretty good indication that their advancement has been behind the general audience. Apple for example has shown that a very large audience is willing to buy expensive hardware at a much higher rate than consoles ever have.

On the video it was a pretty poor discussion...
