Back to TV and Skype huh?

Microsoft simply does not understand the desires of the market.

The TV/Skype stuff are the things that really need to be avertising, the games will sell themselves, core gamers are already quite informed. undoubtably MS will a different adverts targeted at different audiences.

This is a dedicated gaming machine with some added features; to even suggest that it targets everyone is asinine. I have nothing more to say on the matter. If you don't want to be realistic, that's your prerogative.

lol Gaming machines and TV Top boxes are "One" now.  We are all sorry that you arent comprehending that.  But even then it's not like NFL (Madden) is already a popular game or anything.  Even if they can convert Sony Madden fans to Xbox One then they have accomplished something.

I didn't see any logic here. Moving on.

Then explain yourself.  Would it not be great if MSFT could convert Sony Madden fans at the very least? Or to advertise to millions and millions of NFL fans tonight?

Or do you just not have an answer?

I would have been respectful of what you had said if you would have respected others.  but since you didnt it would probably have been more logical if you just didnt comment in this thread at all but hey if your going to tell me Im not being logical ;)

Sure, but that's in the target audience I mentioned. Did you miss the picture as well? (seems to be a trend in here)

The advertising slot is fantastic, the advertisement not so much for reasons previously mentioned.

Well, unfortunately for you I'm free to do as I please and comment in any thread.

No i didnt miss it at all.  I said it was smart advertising as they will reach that audience and have the potential to reaching even more in the process.

It seems to be something youre just ignoring entirely.  Madden is a game that has roughly 5m consistent fans across the board (More popular than most precious exclusives) so getting the biggest share "is important"  whether you want to admit that or not.

Intead you come in here and say NOOOOOOOOO, this isnt good at all.

Let me explain something to you.  Hardcore gamers get most of their advertising on the internet.  It is also important to reach to gamers who doesnt sit on the internet all day.  Which I will also explain to you that the "Hardcore" is in a heavy minority.

I think they understand that 20 plus million people are going to be watching the game tonight while this ad runs on TV.

I think this demonstrates my point, which you clearly didn't get.

Then add the fact that no games were shown...and you see the overlap diminish.

that graph even supports microsoft's decision to make this ad for football games. the red audience won't watch a football match so it is unimportant which ad microsoft shows people who watch football when we talk about the red audience because they won't see it. they will watch a movie instead and will maybe see a forza ad. important is that people who watch nfl like nfl and if you tell them that xbox is better as wii u or playstation for nfl fans, some will believe it. sure, they also have to know that xbox has games but i doubt that they won't see a nfl the game ad or cod ad for xbox.

as long as they will also have gaming related ads there is no problem with that.

it would be obviously a whole different story if they would show only this ad on amercian tv or even worse, if they would show this ad in europe.

I agree with everything said here.

Just make note of the comment I responded to. Poster was attempting to use this 20 million number as an argument, when that's the entirety of NFL fans (blue section). I was simply pointing out the issue with that thought process. It's the overlap that matters, and that is only a small portion of the blue section.

That is one of the most inaccurately manipulative and misleading graphs I have ever seen.  You should be ashamed for even using that to prove a point.  Wow.

Agreed. Terrible graph.

Contrary to what dsgrue thinks, there will be many NFL fans that are not gamers that gain an interest in the Xbox One for this commercial and for its media features.

If a non gamer becomes a gamer as a result, that's another win for MS.

Thinking that the target audience is only gamers is ridiculous. If non gamers never bought gaming products, the Wii would be much lower in sales. And people spend hundreds on media machines all the time as well.
