Didn't the FCC peak the PS4's CPU at 2.75Ghz??

2.75Ghz is the GDDR5 memory clock... some guys in GAF are doing the same confusion (I already corrected two)

And now the Xbone goes GOLD they can finally do the FCC certification... what make the Major Nelson comment about before July silly.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. So what is the peak speed for the PS4 CPU?

XBox One doesn't need any new certification. They are certified to 2.4GHz (wii-fi), so as long as they have nothing clocking faster than 2.4GHz, they are ok.

We know from screenshots that PS4 clocks at 1.6GHz for the cpu. This is not likely to change. The 2.75HGz is the forward clocks of the gddr5, the highest frequency that anything emits in a PS4.

Wow, this is too much. I've seen this only on youtube other than here

So basically the PS4 can go as high as 2.75Ghz?(not that they will)

Xbox - Better Specs
PS2 - Better Games

This is why specs don't matter people, move along and just enjoy what you buy.

"Honestly my friend, if you're still trying to hold onto this rumor at this point, it's just grasping at straws.

ESRAM is *embedded* in the GPU. You don't have yield problems with ESRAM embedded in the GPU then increase the frequency of the GPU. When we increased the frequency of the GPU we also increased the bandwidth of the ESRAM, so they are directly related."

I'm not seeing upset in any of his comments at all.

This PR guy obviously has no clue of what he is talking about. It is completely irrelevant where esram is. Either you have enough transistors for the 32MByte or you don't, it's as simple as that. (I'm pretty convinced the problem has always been the SoC yield of the Kinect2 unit, not the apu SoC yield). Penello is even setting himself up for the very trap he wants to avoid falling into:

"If you don't have/never had yield problems, how come you had to limit launch to 13 countries only. It seems there is not enough stock?"

Actually is sounds more silly to not already have FCC Certification before going full production.  Would be really expensive if something cropped up and MS had to stop production, fix the issue, retool the plant and fix the already made consoles.  I think its safe to say that MS probably already got certification done already

Just did a quick search on the process and this part stood out

"Confidentiality

The manufacturer may request Confidentiality of the information from the FCC. This usually involves an additional $155 filing fee. If Confidentiality is not requested, all documentation will appear on the FCC website at the time the certification is granted. With the optional fee, the manufacturer can typically eliminate all design documents from this posting process."

They need at least to produce some units to sent to FCC... you can't use a prototype in FCC... and if they changed the clock in the latest months they need to make the certification again.

They did the FCC after the GPU upclock... I'm sure it was not in June.

What I have to do with eSRAM comments? lol how can I have no clue of what he is talking if I didn't said nothing about eSRAM.

And just to you know the Alberto comments is wrong... yelds issues is not related to clock or heat issues it is related to not working silicon area... areas where the electric current didn't pass the way it was planned.

In theory, yes. The cpu would of course instantly blow up at those speeds. Cooling in the PS4 (I have actually seen it, a picture was up for a few minutes on a south korean website before it went down) would probably already have problems near 2GHz).

Id Sony wants to one-up MS at this stage, they could try to free 7 cpus for games without camera required..... but this is getting sillier every day..

Great news for multiplatform games. Hopefully Microsoft can do something else to close the gap further between the PS4 and the X1 and we won't have to suffer any gimped games this generation.

The PS5 Exists.
