I think someone has been watching a bit too much SAO.

No chance this is gonna work. It would have to be technology that is confortable to the eyes and an impressive imersive piece of software to make it work. Still, you would probably still play with your controller right? So what is this besides a glorified screen in your face?

Hmmm kinda... Have you seen any of the Oculus Rift videos?  What is SAO?

Personally I think this could be pretty cool with OR + Playstation Move.

Sword Art Online. Do you know the .hack series? Its pretty much the same premise of virtual reality and beeing stuck in an online MMORPG ubanle to get out.

I checked the website and it seemed to be what i was saying. 2 small screens on your face controlled with a gamepad.

lol, where have you been for the last year? Oculus rift has received universal praise from every media outlet thats used it. The concept has been tested and it works, and you dont need hugely specialised software either. Any FPS or Racing game will be an easy candidate. Killzone 4, GT7.

The problem with oculus is that its too expensive and its also bulky and ugly. But if sony are looking at a 2014 reveal, you can garuntee that it wont be in stores till 2015. By then a $150 headset, packaged with a game may be feasible and if it gets reviews as good as oculos you can garuntee that it will off word of mouth.

If specialists say jumping in a well is a really cool move would you do it?At the end of the day, its what the consumer perceives and not what specialists say.

But both of you feel free to tell me how this is different and revolutionary. I just dont see how without some different type of interface. Heck the idea with move is better than the gamepad itself.

Sure, that doesn't look heavy or awkward.

And a copy of others. Reminds me of something.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

If this comes to PS4, you will need to buy the PS4 Eye Camera for head tracking. I doubt they will ship this til 2016 or later. Price alone will make it hard to market. If M$ thinks this is even a possibility at Sony, they will just buy the tech from somebody and add it to their system too.

No need to copy, Microsoft has been working and innovating on this for years. They call it project Fortazela.  It's been part of the path for Xbox One design for years.  And they even can mix it with Kinect 2.0 so you can move, and something like a table, it change into an in game object.

It's another reason I say Microsoft is the most creative of the current gaming company manufacturers.

This is a bad move, IMO. If their other 3D viewer is any indication, this tech will be expensive. I don't see why Sony and MS don't just endorse the Oculus which has been well received and in development for quite some time.

That's what is interesting. Microsoft has been working on their own version Project Fortazela for years.  It is designed to work with Kinect - so the table in the middle of the room could get turned into a big in game rock or something.

And Sony was just talking to Oculus recently.  Wonder if they were really interested, or if it was like how there were 'working' with Nintendo over bring them the CDi, then dumped them and came out with their own system, the PS1.  Or walked out of the Video Format talks and came out with their own system, Betamax, once it was ready.  Betamax was a fail by the way back in the 80s.

Very happy that they're interested in VR. This first device will probably be too expensive to be a big hit but it's definitely the right path to be going down. And for those worried about OR..competition is good, right?

Lol @ betamax entering the conversation

I am genuinely interested in this, soon as I saw the headline news about this it got my attention. OR appears amazing so I am glad Sony is going to do something for the PS4 with VR, it’s a better road to go down than Wonderbook. Lol
