@Michael-5: To be fair, I was't talking only about the number of new IPs, but also the interest for those games.

C'mon, even Lair was more hyped!

Argueable, and to be fair most of the better new IP's of the 7th generation didn't appear until 2007-2009. So we have to wait until E3 2014 to judge.

And like I said, Argueable. I am genuinly interested in Bravery Default, Cyberpunk, Titanfall, and Desitny. However you are right there aren't that many new IP's this coming gen, and it's largely because many 8th gen consoles use the same engines from 7th gen.

To be fair, unlike last gen, new entries in old franchises are seeing a lot more hype. Forza 5 has a lot more hype then Forza 2, CoD Ghosts has much much more hype then CoD 2 & 3, X has more hype then any Nintendo RPG has had in a long while, etc.

Also depending on the game design on "X" it could could as a new IP. XenoSaga was very very different from XenoGears, and XenoBlade was very very different from XenoBlade. None of the plots overlap, but then you could relate this to FF since every FF is fairly different and unrelated.

Based on what we've seen of "X", it's either Xenoblade 2 or a Xenoblade spiritual successor with Xenogears influences. If it actually ties Xenogears and Xenoblade mythology together without any legal issues with Square-Enix, I would be extremely impressed.

I dunno, we have that large red mech which looks similar to the one in XenoGears, and a character who looks like Shulk. It could be anything, but I don't think it will tie the events between those two games, I think Monolith Soft is just using ques from older games to build hype for this one.

If anything I say it's an unrelated sequel to XenoBlade. You can see large structures similar to Biotis parts in the background, but this could take place so far in the future that the plot could be unrelated entirely. I mean Final Fantays VII and X take place in the same world (will kinda, two theories are that decendants of X space travel to the planet VII takes place, or both games take place on the same world in alternate dimensions), but are they related? Not in the slightest......Well Kain from FFIV is the son of Richard from FFII, but in essence, the games aren't related.

I'd be down with that. Xenoblade's ending is more than open to a far future sequel that plays up the whole "world without gods" business. Plenty of opportunity to pay lip service to Nietzsche, as per usual.

This could be a very possible plot for whatever X is called.
