Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft's Major Nelson confirms "No Launch Game included" outside Europe

You know, that kind of sucks.

Think about it. Microsoft is saying to gamers in North America, "hey, we don't have to do anything special for you, we know you'll buy our product regardless. Go pre-order and shut up." This should be the new definition for the phrase, "taking for granted."

umm no >> considering how must of the biggest serivce advantages are for people who actually live in the usa, probably more consoles dedicated to the usa, 500 mill nfl deal and other services.

I look forward to what they plan to offer Japan pre-orderers.

Anyone know what Japan's pre-order numbers are?

If they want to sell there, they should probably bundle the whole launch line-up with the console. xD

same as they are for PS4

zero.

ms dont really care about japan.  not sure what sony's excuse is.

That's not what they said here:

Spencer also spoke about Microsoft’s commitment to Japan. The company is “continuing to invest there,” he said.

“Specifically about the Japanese market – and I’ll be at Tokyo Game Show in a month – the Japanese development community remains incredibly important to us, and we’re continuing to invest there. We’re having great conversations with people. We’re not announcing anything, but I can say both RPGs and specifically the Japanese developers are really important to our ecosystem. I know Dead Rising 3 isn’t an RPG and is being developed in Vancouver, Canada, but I’ll just say the relationship with the publishers and developers in Japan is something we’ll continue to invest in as important.” source

MS do care about Japan, they're not going to win and they know it, but they're still going to try and garner some sales there which is why they've set up a studio there to work on JRPG's.
