Forums - Gaming - Opinion: Xbox One vs PS4 is a contest of cheap put-downs

It was actually just an opinion. Disagree if you wish, but you cant change my opinion.

If piracy and used games didnt exist there would probably be less F2P and Microtransactions...... IMO.

off topic
@bold - you hit the nail there... F2P was created in the PC world to try to go around piracy, the used game market in PC is microscopic compared to the consoles. the F2P is making is way to consoles just because it proved it self, in PCs, to be a functional method to generate revenue. Second hand market in consoles had nothing to do with it.

on topic - not a reply to kowen
i have to agree about the usual whining about the price of new consoles... if they are so much expensive to build, and we are getting at least 5 years of support why is  500 or 600 dollars so much? we are not in the 90's no more... if sony did the PS4 with 600$ price tag in mind, it would be 2X more powerful and would give them more money to invest in games, you know games, the thing we like to do on consoles...

They could never please everyone, just like everything else in life. I say just enjoy whatever system you will get, ignore them.

Although, X1 did have alot of problems with it at first. That MS had to turn around. That initial press conference was bad from what i remember, if you were a gamer. E3 was strong though. Also, people take their rights seriously you know.

On the Interwebs, no matter the view, there are almost always at least 2 very vocal minorities that will oppose any move being done, and the end result is when the move happens, they end up screaming about it.  End result is, when you view the community, it looks like it is full of individuals who can't make up their mind and hate everything.

This thread was laughably one sided, maybe try to at least pretend to be objective? Easy to tell an xbox fan made it. MS made their bed, take it like a man geez.

I bet when the ps3 ws being blasted for several years and made fun of you were nowhere in site saying it was "Unfair".

Go find where I ever criticised the PS3 back then.  I never did, I never have really, I rarely if ever criticise hardware or games.... I just fdont buy them if I dont like them. Consumer have a choice right, their real power isnt being vocal about it, it is simply not buying the product.

As I recall Sony was only criticised due to the price of the PS3, the fans rallied to say "its worth it" and that was pretty much that.  Sony reduced the price in quick time (had their own 180) and the rest is history, it wasnt a big deal.  This is far bigger.

But.... If you could be arsed to read the whole article (I didnt wirte it, its from the Guardian's gaming commentator) and stopped being so ironic in your posts you would see that it actually attacks all sides of the gaming forum community, this isnt about the XB1 in isolation.

I never said YOU criticized the Ps3...........And it was a lot more then price, Sony took a tonne of heat for numerous issues, including lack of games, price, poor network, terrible marketing, hard development environment.

This is NOT far bigger, Sony was going DREAMCAST many were saying for a good long while even major media outlets, and if you owned a PS3 you were ridiculed. You're seeing this from a  very biased point of view obviously. Even big developers (John carmack, Gabe newell, publically called sony out)

The gaming community is trash yes, but MS really did deserve a lot of the bashing, what were they thinking? I mean almost anyone could have predicted a backlash with what they were proposing.

Sony was never going Dreamcast, people have selective memories.  PS3 had a more successful launch than the 360, it just wasnt PS2, but it was never going to be.

The point is that if you propose anything other than the status quo these days you will get a backlash.... if you propose it first... of course its ok to do it later and blame the market.  Change is a four letter word in gaming.

The industry is constantly pandering to fanboys, using language they love and not making good business decisions.  Thats not healthy.  That is a criticism of MS along with all the rest.  If the whole industry continues to pander to fanboys and the "hardcore" then I believe it will be a mistake leading to at the worst high profile casualties and at best the stifling of innovation allowing others to come up on the fence and take the initiative.   To emphasise this I believe MS should have stuck to their policies.

The fact that ps3 was never going dreamcast was not really the point. I do agree with some of what you are saying though, the gaming media is really immature, the industry as a whole is. Even the reviews are not professional, gaming has a long way to go.

With regards to the x1 however, i do not agree, MS were way too soon forcing anti-consumer policies on an industry that simply isn't ready. That backlash was warrented imo. To me that showed the true intent of a company, and it certainyl never had the consumers interest at heart.

everything about this is just soo laughable..

..firstly, it's not welcome to the internet,. it's welcome to our world.  everything from state politics to office politics to sports to whatever.  anyplace there are hearts and minds to be won there will be haters and they have to hate.  the fans of gaming aren't going to be any different than the rest of human nature.  if you don't get that then you're just naive to the basic elements of what it means to be human.  and as if this is even recent: genesis does what nintendon't...

but even more laughable kowen,.. you've got a well established reputation of posting abrasively agressive opinions, stating your opinions as if they were facts, sarcasm, back-handed compliments, and condescension.  so what's your point in posting this?  you're just like the rest of us..

I didn't see many put downs of Sony after E3. Obviously there were the Xbox trolls who still acted like they were somehow going to implement DRM and would say stuff like "only one new game lol" but if you just listen to the crowd it's pretty obvious that was one of the most positive reactions gaming audiences have given a new console in awhile. Just gotta try to get the bigger perspective rather than taking one detractor as the larger audience.

Do you hate internet that much ?

No he just hates freedom of speech when he don't agree with the majority of people.

But that's what makes the world a funny place =(

agreed, it is quite amusing

This is about freedom of speech now?  Hilarious indeed.

I've made my point.  I'll leave you all to it now.

But you are complaining about the backlash X1 got earlier in the summer and saying people who have some fair complaints about the system are babies who crapped themselves. That is far from the truth, people just didn't like that MS told them they had to do certain things like sign in to live or buy all games brand new. People hate being dictated too, more so than ever before. I'm sure had Sony or Nintendo tried their luck like MS did, they would get similar backlash and rightfully so. Not like you would care though. The thing is, because MS did try to impose such policies, it damaged customer trust with the company and many switched sides. This became more apparent on the internet than elsewhere. I say about freedom of speech because you can't seem to deal with this opposition, Neogaf is respected in the industry you know but you resort to name calling because you obviously don't agree. Also, just enjoy your Xbox. No one will care to be honest

The OP and the article quoted aren't talking solely about the "xb1 backlash" or calling out neogaf as the sole pit of internet filth and whininess.  The points made are very valid imo, and take all console manufacturers and game forums, basically our whole industry into consideration.  People in this industry are very quick to sit behind a computer screen and spew complaints about everything and nothing towards any and all events that unfold from all party's involved.  No matter what any company does, whether it be MS, Sony or Ninty, they cannot make everyone happy...nor do many people seem to want to be happy, as they are seemingly more content to be discontent and whine and find fault and point fingers even to the extent of hateful posts and/or death threats.  And nothing can be more wrong or pitiful than that over something that stems from something that should be as fun as playing a video game.

MS made a product...and they ARE NOT wrong to make it any which way they please.  It's their product.  If you like it, then buy it...if you don't care for it, then don't buy it.  Simple as that.  This whole thought process of how MS was going to force this and that on the consumer is pure BS.  Noone had already paid for one and was then told this was how it had to be.  NOONE was forcing anyone to buy it.  Step away from your blind allegiance to the phony armies of S, MS and N and understand that if you don't like one product that you could choose another...but there is nothing wrong with how any of the three make their products.  Choose the one that suits you rather than people raising such an internet fuss that it sways a company from their vision of the future and returns the product to the mundane same old, same old just to try and make people happy again (which still didn't work).

I agree with the op, the forums are filled with blind allegiance, whiners and unfounded hatred...and it's a sad sad thing that it has come to this in an industry that should be focused on entertainment, innovation and FUN.

Stopped reading when he got to used games at the may reveal. Sure he may get to a good point, but this guy doesn't understand us.

I may be opinionated but I dont resort to gif's and childish one liners and hate campaigns.  I voice my opinion and move on and its almost never about games or consoles, its about individuals and their ways usually or the undutsry as a whole.  Their is a massive difference that you probably cant see.

by the way, this is a "personal attack" isnt it....?

we know the mods dont like them these days.

you're posting style vs gifs is just different means to the same ends.    and whatever, report me if you want to.  for how many threads have been derailed by the bickering between yourself, peuz, and ethomaz the irony of this thread is just far to great to not call it out.  i just can't,. i just can't not do it.

While I'll agree, it's always been like that. This is nothing new.
PS2 players ragged on xbox gamers, then xbox made a resurgence with 360, and talked shit for a good 4 years. Now ps4 is coming back in dominance and it looks like vengeance will be had haha.

I think it's kinda fun actually. Maturity is to accept immaturity.

By the way, Sony dumbed on MS by offering Assassin's Creed 3 for PS PLUS-Users. It's so funny, MS tries to keep up with Sony and offered AC 2 a month ago and Sony strikes back with a smart, humiliating move.

(I think AC 2 is better than AC 3 but it's oooold and everyone already should have played it)
