Graphics comparison between Galaxy and Sunshine.

Does Nintendo get too much credit for saving the videogame industry?

Chief editor of Play Magazine says Nintendo is going to abandon the core gamer market.

David Jaffe: "Ratchet & Clank is a better game than Super Mario Galaxy."

Want to know something funny about the Galaxy vs. Sunshine thread? It came along after several Halo 2 vs. Halo 3 graphic comparison threads in which almost nobody saw anything wrong but the moment I posted the same thing about Super Mario Galaxy suddenly many people were angry. Add to that the fact that I was just reporting on a video on Gametrailers.com that was starting to get a lot of attention.

All of those threads did have something legitimate behind them.  I had never played Mario Sunshine and was surprised at how great it looks.  Sony deserves almost as much credit as Nintendo for what video games are today (much better at allowing mature themed games on their consoles, as a developer I think they encourage more creativity too).  MS has helped bridge the console and PC market too.

Nintendo alienating the core gamer IS a concern whether or not you guys believe it.  I am not going as far to say that Ratchet and Clank is better than SMG, but it is a damn good game, one that I would recommend to just about anyone with a PS3.

The Halo 2 vs. Halo 3 threads definitely happened too.  This website does need some non-Wii-centric opinions to help balance it out.  Its not like the Wii people don't post anything negative about MS or Sony once they here it.  People just need to lighten up.

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. I disagree. I believe the Nintendo fans are easily the most sensitive. For example, every time some CEO or whatever says something negative about the Wii, Nintendo fans feel the need to start a topic on how the guy is an idiot or whatever... All you have to do is call the Wii casual, which isn't even an insult, and Nintendo fans go nuts.

I agree with Riot.  The non-Wii people have to tread more carefully in this forum than other people because of the balance around here.  Is it really that hard for you guys to admit that this website is Nintendo biased?  It is if you haven't noticed.  Once again it is getting better, but it is.

I will agree that there are more Wii fans than PS3 fans or 360 fans on this site; and that therefore an anti-Wii comment will tend to get more people crying foul than an anti-PS3 comment or an anti-360 comment.

But what Riot is saying is that the individual Wii fan is hypersensitive and more prone to jump on you for Wii bashing than 360 fans are protective of the 360 or PS3 fans are protective of the PS3. That is just not true.

I don`t want to generalize against Wii fans, I think most of them here are logical, reasonable and knowledgable, but a few bad apples stands out. Those who goes out of their ways to bash others are killing our good names of being a `Gamer`,

People who would ruin a thread by talking about things (flaming others) that has nothing to do with the topic is just disgusting.

Right, but that is hardly a phenomenon unique to Wii fans or Nintendo fans. I remember a period, a little while back, when if you said ANYTHING about the PS3 -- mentioned it at all, good or bad -- no matter what the thread was about, if MikeB saw it he would post pages and pages of propaganda about how the PS3 was by far the most powerful system in every conceivable way and "could run Halo 3 in 1080p at 60fps" etc. etc.

And there are many more examples for all three systems. Interestingly, I haven't seen many freakish fanboys of DS or PSP making troll/flame/propaganda posts. Some, but not many. Maybe because the DS is such a force of nature that DS fans have nothing to fear, and PSP fans would prefer to just ignore it.

How dare you troll the DS and PSP. If you had a soul you would report yourself.
