Until I saw that it was the highest-selling Dreamcast game in Japan.
I have only this to say:
Buh?

Japan makes no sense at times. Resident Evil 3 was a bigger hit than Resident Evil 4 in Japan.
The Japanese market used to be suckers for innovation and gimmicks! BTW, have you played Seaman? That was the coolest virtual pet ever! It was almost like a real companion. I haven't played (or even seen) the sequel, but the original was pretty impressive. I used to leave my Dreamcast on for hours waiting for my Seaman to talk to me. It was relaxing too! My girlfriend used to even get jealous of the time me and the Frogman would spend together. Good times, man. Good times.

I never had the chance to try it, though it seemed interesting. The Mega64 sketch is pretty funny, too.
I believe the sequel is subtitled "The Peking Man Rearing Kit" or something and appears to be even more bizarre than the first:

The things Seaman would say at times were either hilarious or spooky. Having Lenard Nemoy do the voice was a stroke of genius. It actually would make you think about the way you were living your life at times.
