Oh. I guess I played them in the reverse order then back in the Arcades.
Btw, the original that both games ripped off was not Street Fighter, it was Double Dragon.

What do you mean? It's a freaking carbon copy of the original game.
The only difference is the better graphics. But all the gameplay mechanics, user interface, even animations and style of characters and monsters, is the same.

That's the problem in a sense. In comparison to other to other beat em Golden Ax was pretty generic in the mechanics department so its pretty bizarre that they would decide to bring Golden Ax back or any SEGA classic as if we were on genesis. SEGA should know better due to Sonic 4! That game was criticised for not taking any steps foward and a few steps back from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. My refrence to Street fighter was missed somehow..? Capcom did a amazing job of taking sprites and translating them into a 3D world while maintain all the charm and style. This Golden Ax pitch does not do that at all. Taking Golden Ax and giving it a generic realism look kills it! I would love more than ever for SEGA to bring what built their name but it must be done in a way that modernizes the mechanics but maintains the spirit and charm of the classic. From SEGA Outrun coast to coast is the title that fits the bill.

Yeah. I got the picture together now.
The original was honestly a weak game, gameplay wise. I loved it but honestly, like you say, it had generic mechanics.
So now these guys decide to pitch a remake, and the only thing they decided to change was the really good aspect of the original - the charming visual style, and instead turn it into a mature game with God of War visuals. But they bizarely decided to preserve all the generic game mechanics and introduce nothing innovative.
It's pretty funny when you think of it and speaks of incompetence and inability to read the modern gaming market.
(I agree what you said about Capcom, they did it brilliantly with SF4).
At least main SEGA had the wisdom to decline this Golden Axe pitch.
