Worldwide? Yes. But in North America, my money's still on X-One. The PS4 has higher pre-orders, and it will likely sell better in the first year. But the inevitable launch of Halo 5 in fall 2014 will be the game changer in that region.

No one game will have that type of effect.

I'm not saying that the week of Halo 5's launch will be the week that X-One overtakes PS4. It will still take a long time for X-One to do that. What I'm saying is that Halo 5's release will be when X-One starts outselling PS4 on a weekly basis in North America, even if it's only by a small margin.

No it won't there will be a spike then it will go back to normal, this is true for every gen when halo releases. Sony has bug guns for 2014 yet to be announced, and a price advantage.

P.S. Does anyone know the current pre-orders for PS4 and X-One in the UK?

I read several times that it is 3:1 in favor of the PS4, which I find hard to believe.  But keep in mind the price difference is even bigger there, and none of the TV stuff works in the UK...

if the Wii's sales mean shit, what do the PS3's sales mean?

LOL, Ps3's sales mean shit for the Ps4 as well. It really was pointless to bring up the Ps3.

I read that it's 600k vs. 350k, and that X-One is slowly catching up. And I'm still not fully convinced that X-One's price tag will be $100 higher. If they're willing to change their policies about DRM, always-online, and mandatory Kinect, then perhaps they would be willing to change their minds about price.

Catching up how? The ratio actually increased by 4% in favour of PS4.

preorders won't tell us much aside from the fact that sony has more fans.

it looks a bit like that right now, but this isn't checkmate by a long shot. many pieces can and will change in the coming years

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

We dont have full 2013 numbers but with Pokemon, Monster Hunter 4, Zelda, Mario Party and 2DS this holiday its totallly possible to match GBA 2003 sales

I stand corrected then :)

Hmmm.... This can be wrong but i doubt it, here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=76603907&postcount=342

It's only US numbers (NPD...) but, given those numbers, how is 3DS matching GBA sales? Not even DS did it (on USA that is)...

So you stand un-corrected, sir :)

I don't think there are too many scenarios where Sony doesn't "win" this next gen. Wii U is already looking pretty weak, and with all the negative hype around the XB1 (and it being more expensive) I think Sony has it in the bag unless theydo something really moronic.

Wii U price drop, $100 cheaper than PS4, both bundles come with a game (Nintendo Land or Wind Waker), Zelda bundle has tons of extra goodies, several key titles from Nintendo will only be $50. I think Nintendo will be fine this holiday season, and I think my prediction of Wii U at least hitting 6 million by the end of the year is safe now, for sure.

PS4 is killing Xbox One in Canada.

I've called every GameStop in my area and asked what pre-orders look like so far... Everyone has said it's at least 4:1 in favor of PS4
