Forums - Sony - Titanfall: Developer Interview Shows Possible PS3/PS4 Dev-kit

Ever since rumours about its exclusivity towards Microsoft’s next generation Xbox One console to its reveal at E3 2013 and the confirmation that it would only be arriving for Xbox and PC, many have wondered if Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall would ever come to PlayStation consoles. The powers that be at Respawn have neither confirmed nor denied whether it will – just that fans will have to wait till it appears on either PS3 or PS4 any time soon.

However, a recent screenshot from a developer feature for Respawn and Titanfall showcases something intriguing: A blurred out dev kit in the corner, standing vertically, but with a Dualshock 3 controller close to the monitor. As some have pointed out, this is most likely a PS3 dev kit since PS4 dev kits tend to lay horizontal. Of course, PS3 dev kits can also lay vertical so this argument doesn’t really help.

Sure the video is two months old, but it fits in with Respawn telling PlayStation fans to wait for a PS3/PS4 version of Titanfall. It could be that it’s already in development, but will be timed exclusive for Xbox One/Xbox 360 first. Seems plausible? Comments below.

I think it's probable that it will go to the PS4. Also, remember, Sony has a policy that late versions of timed exclusives MUST have improvements and/or additional content, which is why the late versions of so many early gen games ended up with the best version being on PS3. With that in mind, it wouldn't bother me to wait.

Of course, if I wanted it in the first place, I'd probably buy it on PC. Haven't decided yet, though, as I'm looking forward to Destiny more and I don't need a bunch of online games to play.

Don't they know that the game doesn't run without Cloud?
How much does it cost to get a ps4 devkit? This might mean nothing?

lol the Cloud part is PR at it's finest and above average gamers see through it! I think a big developer like EA doesn't even have to pay for dev kits, even if they were costing money. Maybe someone has more precise information regarding this.

By the way you ask too many questions in one post :D

Mass Effect was a Microsoft published game, though, so it's not exactly the same situation.  Titanfall is published by EA from the start.  If it's coming to PS4 then I'm guessing a 1 year delay, which would mean Microsoft paid for an exclusive deal.  Actually, the fact that they won't come out and say one way or another is close to being proof that an exclusive rights contract was signed.

It's coming to PlayStation platforms, the question is simply when

I'm sure these studios receive free DevKits.
