Forums - Sony - DualShock 4 is about to revolutionize the gaming industry

I've pre-ordered the PS4...I couldn't care less about the touchpad.

The advantages of Dual Shock 4 is real.

I was reading the impressions from GAFers and over 90% of the Xbox fans that prefer the 360 controller over the Dual Shock 3 said that the Dual Shock 4 is a better controller.

But there are always the change to release a new controller like Sony did from Synaxis to Dual Shock 3.

Funny fact is the Dual Shock 4 is more like the 360 controller than the Xbone controller lol.

Touchpad will be great for games like Tropico, Sim city, Civilization, anything that benefits from a fast and accurate pointer. At least it will make browsing a lot easier.

And no it's not the same as selecting things on a touch screen like the wiiU gamepad. A touchpad is a lot more accurate and you are not blocking what you are trying to select. (Unless you use the stylus, I rather use a touchpad)

I hope you can set it up the way you want. Move the pointer with your left thumb or index finger and use the directional buttons as 'mouse' buttons would be my preferred setup. I guess thumb plus R1/R2 would work well too.

I think your whole post is way,way overblown. It's nothing but an extra button option. No ones going to bye the ps4 version just so they can use the touchpad. that even sounds crazy, when I say it.

I am just looking forward to using the DS4, from what I have read and seen the whole feel and redesign of the controller and especially the triggers and the analog sticks are what interests me the most, as for the touch pad it’s a neat idea and it will be if devs can integrate into their games that will make it useful or not.

Watch dogs appears to make good use of it:

Today we played the game on a PlayStation 4 controller, it’s also a very tight controller, and we really were happy with what we saw, it’s relatively new still for the team, but it’s a great controller. And we’re also making use of the touchpad [on the DualShock 4] which we think is a great addition because we have, well, Aiden spends his time using his smart phone so he has a direct reflection of those inputs on his controller.

I'm not an english major and don't care how many spelling and grammar mistakes I make. I'm pretty sure every post I"ve made in six years on this site has spelling and grammar mistakes.

You are entitled to present yourself in whatever way you want.

I was just offering helpful information just in case it was needed.

If you say the WiiU gamepad is a gimmick, i raise you the Dual shock 4 and laugh my ass off. I can only imagine that article was a comedy piece:)

No, that's an opinion not a fact.

Wii U gamepad has a touchscreen "that's such a gimmick, it will do nothing for gaming"
DS4 has a touchpad "wow, this going to revolutionize gaming as we know it"

It's because the wii u has a screen on it. All games I know of on wii u want the user to be looking at the gamepad when doing touch. It's used for taping exact locations usually.

With ps4 it is for swipes and very simple things making it more like a button and less like a touch screen. I really wonder if wii u games will eventually follow in the ps4's foot steps and use the touch screen as a touch pad.
