Forums - Nintendo - Developer Abandons Nintendo as Struggles Continue

Well it's not like N-Space doesn't want to develop games for Nintendo consoles. It's just that they are going with the flow of what the 3rd party publishers are currently asking them to make. Who knows if they decide to self-publish on eShop they might make a game for a Nintendo console. Nothing here to really discuss...it was just a business decision.

I wasn't aware Nintendo was struggling in the handheld market.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

Shigeru Miyamoto

Going by those n-space developed 3DS titles and their performance, I think it's pretty safe to say that they are blaming Nintendo for their own failure. And as far as home consoles are concerned n-space was never part of the equation.

Nintendo isn't struggling nearly as much as they are.

Eh, I hope they find success on the mobile market, I based off a few of their games, I can tell they have talented people working for them but man the industry is in a rough place right now for a developer their size. You go were the work is and with most Western publishers preferring mobile development over handheld or AAA titles over smaller ones this is probably something they have to do.

Those Hannah Montanah games will remain in Nintendo fans' hearts forever. Long Live n-space.

It's not that N-Space is 'abandoning' Nintendo, it's that no publisher wants to publish games on Nintendo's platforms so N-Space (and no doubt other such developers) have to pitch those games for other platforms instead.

"There's just very low demand right now for their work through the publisher side,"

I can understand the Wii U, but no one wants to publish for the 3DS?

I'm surprised by that too but 3DS doesn't appear to have the same western support that DS did.

Also mobile gaming is now 4x's bigger than handheld (based on revenue) so I guess that's where everyone's focus is.
