I look upon racing games much as I do real-life cars - that's to say, I find them compellingly shiny but I don't have the first idea how to handle one. Ubisoft's Julian Gerighty does, though.
He's creative director for The Crew, an open world title that's in development at Ivory Tower and Ubisoft Reflections for Xbox One, the Other Console and the Other Other Console That Uses A Keyboard. Ubisoft has promised a 5000 square kilometre riff on North America, extending from coast to coast, and "the widest variety of cars ever seen in a driving game". Our hands-on time at E3 left us in no doubt as to The Crew's potential - it's Test Drive Unlimited with fewer limits, to cut a long story short.
