Forums - Sony - Sony focusing on Remote Play with Vita instead of Cross-Controller support because people lack “four eyes”

Sony copied!?  :O

Oh wait, no they didn't.  Nintendo copied Sony with the whole playing the game on the tablet.  PSP and PS3 could do it with Lair, BlazBlue, all PSX, and some PSN games games.

The Vita launched with Remote Play available, able to use every game the PSP could have with the PS3.  Ico/SotC HD Collection and God of War HD Collection were later patched to work with Remote Play as well.  The patches announced in June 2012, released in September, and a couple months later, November, the Wii U was released.

Since the PS4 is powerful enough, Remote Play is being done at a hardware level so that all games will work with it and not a few that have to be developed with the feature in mind.

I don't think anyone copied anyone with this, but if you want to get technical, Nintendo did this with the GBA back in the Gamecube era.

The GBA acted as a menu system while all the action took place on the tv screen.  Not at all the same.

No the action actually took place on the screen for the games that used it.  At least some of them.  Pacman vs and much of Four Swords which were the only ones I played.

Nintendo points out that some people can move their eyes and look at different things.

You are truly a god among men.

Alright then.  I only played Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles using that feature, thought Four Swords was the only other one and assumed that was the same.  I'll have to take your word on it.

Btw.  Are you sure you played Four Swords using the Gamecube?  It was also available through the GBA cart of Link to the Past.  Just saying.  Maybe you're confused.

Sony failed once again... I guess Nintendo made people evolve to be able to move their eyes and use two screens... NintendoLand and ZombiU prove my point...

They also don't have a vita

You kinda failed with that post there bud. Don't worry, I fixed it.

He's also very correct. When playing Nintendo Wii U on my own, I never look back and fourth between both screens. Even in Nintendoland mini games that almost require it. Multiscreen gaming only shines when doing local multiplayer.

In all seriousness though, you don't need four eyes. I'm sure everyone here has managed to use a cell phone while doing something else (hopefully not driving). And even with driving, we have GPS that display maps. You glance down for a second, than look back up. Taking our attention from one thing to momentarily look at another is a part of life and could be a good mechanics in games as it is in Zombi U. That's not to mention the advantages of being able to map to a touch screen which is something that could not be easy to do with the Vita touch pad. Then there are multiplayer functions to consider. Metroid Blast, Zelda in Nintendo Land, and Mario Chase are great. You also have it as an input mechanism for games like Scribblenauts Unlimited/Unmasked. Things like navigating a minefield in Zombi U. Multiplayer in a shooter without screen sharing. Lots of potential uses. Sony even showed off some of that stuff with Little Big Planet 2.

Of course, Sony can't do that because the hardware is not included with the system. And I can't blame them because it wouldn't be worth the cost for what they're doing. Remote play makes the most sense with what the Vita does, but I wish Sony could just learn to toot their own horn without feeling the need to try and put down their opponents at every turn. Actually contributes a lot to why I dislike the company as a whole.

Lmao, good thing Sony's last three indredebly hyped consoles were complete financial failures and the entire company is in the financial gutter right now. They are in no place to be throwing pot shots when both companies are in a much more financially stable position then Sony is. Yeah, I said it. Sony as a company, especially their gaming division, if failing.

Just shot the elephant in the room.
I'll see myself out, too.
