Forums - Microsoft - Ken Lobb On Future Killer Instinct Characters

Saw this over on NeoGaf

In it, he confirms:

1) It is a platform. New seasons/characters/levels/etc will be added to the existing platform (game). You will not be buying Killer Instinct 2, 3, 4, etc. and everything being separate.

2) If you purchase 1 or 2 individual characters, purchasing the full game will not be $20, it will be discounted due to the money you already invested in the game.

3) There will be some type of story mode, the idea right now is shadow jago will be the final boss. He was unhappy with KI1 and KI2's bosses

4) They are working on adding online to the port of Killer Instinct.

5) Season/Round 2 should launch by holiday 2014 but very well may be sooner if they keep up their current pace.

funny how all the nay sayer about the price scheme are nowhere to see in that thread.... anyway this exactly what direction I want the VG industry to take....

drop the discs... go DD and do various price scheme and split the game into episodes if you need to... I don't mind forking 5 to 10 even 20 bucks to play a couple level of a game and then decide whether I will or not I will follow the franchise for the 10 years to come buying a season pass or by the episodes DLC packs as they come.... I'm tired of paying 60 bucks for a game I won't play fully because their are so many options.... and you don't even know if it will be successful enough to have several DLCs and releases

serialization can spread cost for devs and customers and allow each parties to foresee the future better for the customer to voice their request and the devs to adapt to the market better so they can maintain a new IP in the long run....
