PS3, you can find one for cheap now and tons of games are prob dirt cheap now too. The wii u won't get the really big titles until 2014 anyways.

PS3 will provide you with a wealth of games and a very lengthy backlog of titles to catch up on, many of which will be cheap and there's still support this year for it. You can always get the Wii U later when there's more momentum. Have you considered going straight into next gen with the PS4? Only 50 more than the Wii U.

I intend to get a Wii U myself, but right now there's no momentum really, so I'll get one next year when Smash is out.

Get the system that has more of the games you like. If you like most of the nintendo games and you are ok with the third party support, get the Wii U. If you like Sony games and like most third party games, get the PS3.
