Dual Shockers

As part a technical presentation about Autodesk Maya we got some new interesting info directly from Crytek about Ryse: Son of Rome, that has been in development for a year and a half. A sizable amount of gameplay footage has also been shown.

Most notably we learn that the protagonist Marius is made of 150,000 triangles including armor and cloth (the movement of which is physically simulated and deformed in real time). He has more than 770 joints of which about 500 are deforming (260 of which are part of his face). That’s quite impressive for an in-engine character model made for gameplay.

A sizable part of the presentation is of course very technical, as the conference is mostly about Autodesk Maya itself, and it’s intended for developers, but if you want to catch a glimpse behind the lovely looking scenes of Ryse: Son of Rome, this is your chance.

I say this video the other day and thought about posting it but I guess I have to wake up early in the morning in order to one up Nsanity.

I will say that its very impressive work on crytek and a new direction for the company. It will be very interesting to see how this game shapes up.

Looks amazing. Personally I thought it looked like the best looking game from a technical standpoint at E3. Very excited to play it.

Man the graphics are amazing and this is coming from someone who has a PC capable of playing Crysis 3 on high settings. Hopefully the game play is good. I really want a reason to pick this up. I love Hack n Slash games.
