Forums - Microsoft - Introducing Season Pass Guarantee: Buy a Season Pass on Xbox 360, Get a Season Pass for the Same Game on Xbox One Free

Xbox Wire

Fans of Season Passes now have another reason to look forward to Xbox One with the Season Pass Guarantee program.  With Season Pass Guarantee, you can purchase a Season Pass for a participating Xbox 360 title and automatically receive access to download the equivalent Xbox One Season Pass.* It’s simple.

Some of the biggest publishers, including Activision, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft, are lined up for the Season Pass Guarantee program, offering season pass content you can’t find anywhere else for blockbuster titles in 2013 and 2014. You’ll be able access exclusive season pass content on anticipated titles like “Call of Duty: Ghosts” and “Battlefield 4” on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Season Pass Guarantee makes transitioning from Xbox 360 to Xbox One an easier and smoother process, so you don’t have to worry about which console you’re playing games on or repurchasing your existing add-ons on Xbox One.

Stay tuned as publishers and titles participating in the Season Pass program are announced in the coming months.

*Xbox Live members must own the same game on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One in order to receive Season Pass Guarantee benefits.

Whilst this is good, it does mean buying the same game twice...why would you do that? I can understand picking it up years later but not at the same time.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Lol dorky but nice but smart.

What MS should get publishers to do is to allow if someone purchases a digital version of a title on 360 then get the same title on the X1 for no additional cost when they get a X1.

Puchase Madden 25 this August for 360 and then get Madden 25 for X1 no charge.

Would need to be digital copy so that you couldnt simply sell the DVD when you get an X1.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I thought the new MS was about saying the catch upfront.

"You don't have to rebuy the DLC" shouldn't be a privilege, it should be a natural consequence of being a digital purchase.

You're right, it won't affect many people, which is exactly why MS is probably doing it, won't lose much money.

I bought Burnout Revenge on org xbox and then 360, and possibly will do same with GTAV, but after a year there probably isn't going to be many cross gen ports or reasons why people that have a one would buy the 360 version.

This is a worthless feature for launch imho, but down the line could be a very nice deal. Buy a game like Ghosts or BF4 on current consoles, or maybe even Titanfall, and get the DLC passes. A couple years later all of these games will still be popular next gen (assuming EA hasn't shut servers down yet) and if you jump into next gen.. you now have tons of free DLC for next gen games.

I wonder if Sony will offer something similar.

How about if you by XB1 season pass does it work on the 360? Not all my friends are getting a XB1 and kinda want me to buy COD Ghosts on the 360 eventually.... which I may.

It's just that simple.

so like cross buy..

Hasn't been confirmed yet for the PS4, but a lot of games on  the PS3/Vita do this.  Some games it's not just DLC, either.  Buy the PS3 game and get the Vita version free.  It's mostly digital only titles like Retro City Rampage or Jet Set Radio, but there are some retail titles that do it as well.

I'd assume the same would happen with the PS4 since everything is tied to your PSN name and you can only have a certain number of people activated on your account at one time(two on PS3, possibly the same on PS4.)

*edit*

Like killer53 said.  Cross buy.
