Yeah, Zero is really harsh, Pullblox and Mighty Switch Force are awesome games. But Vita's download offering obliterate 3DS' IMO. Also generally a lower price.

As a Nintendo fan i dont want it to beat the 3DS lol, but i would like Vita to do better ( along with Wii U) it can only be a good thing for gaming if all consoles and dedicated handhelds all do decent enough numbers.
Yes and it will, when Nintendo releases the 3DS succesor.
Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever
Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe
Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor
Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Im a 3DS owner, and will never own a Vita but i want both to do well. It breeds competition and will stop Nintendo becoming complaisant in the Handheld market (which is what happened in the home console market with the Wii & Wii U)

Take it you didn't ready or even understand my original argument. PSPhone wouldn't be playing the phone games you're thinking of. It would have those plus the "real" PS-style games. It would have been as powerful or more than PSV is now plus real controls. Basically, take vita... change its shape a little bit to be a bit smaller/slider style, add phone tech, but do not remove any other feature except the back-side touch panel. $199 on contract, $499 off. |
I'm saying that given phone competition you would have most potential phone buyers going elsewhere and most dedicated handheld buyers (IE people like me) not willing to pony up the $499. I already have a phone thank you very much and I don't want a smartphone that looks like a handheld with buttons and that would be required to make it a viable handheld gaming device. It's just one of those things you won't yet be able to merge.
Eventually when we are able to get haptic feedback oled phones the size of a psvita, maybe then I could entertain your idea. But until then the form factor and necessary bits for either one do not make for a good experience.
I also cannot see AAA development studios paying attention to it.

You're predicting that the Vita would be dropped? Woohoo, Vita saved. |

Mario its a 2d platformer, theirs a bunch of those on other systems if thats blue ocean then so is COD. Hell i would say that game even competes with the other Mario games. Pikmin 3? Strategy and looking at sales, thats about as red ocean as you can get. Game &Wario thats kinda like blue ocean but lets be real its a mini game comp, there are a bunch of those on smartphones and other devices, hell Frobisher Says for Vita is pretty much the same game, but that was free. Ninty land is the only one that is blue ocean, but again their are alternatives, Ninty aint doing nothing now game wise that they themselves havent already done or other people have done and are doing. |
Not system selling games though; just a bunch of ports people could play on the systems they already had, and a small number of unremarkable exclusives.
Other companies may make platformers, strategy games, but none of them make them the way Nintendo does or in a way that directly competes with Nintendo's offerings.

obliterate is such a strong word, I would agree with you that the Vita has more download only games, but the 3DS has it´s fair share of great (unique) games as well...I don´t want to turn this isnto a listwar, but The Guild games (Monsters attack on Friday seems to be the standout title) the Denpamen, Steam World Digg etc..there is quite a nice selection !
I will have to check them out! To be fair my budget this month went on Pikmin and Lego City (I finally got it ha!)
I'll have to have a look at the eShop again when I get paid.
