So let me tell you guys the story that gave me this idea.  I went out to get my Wii U like a week ago, I hooked it all up and I got the blinking blue light of death, I've never heard of this so I thouht it must be rare, so I googled it to see if there were any solutions and I found countless forum of people with the same problem asking for help.  Luckily I was able to trade it in for another one and that one has been working fine.  There has also been the problem with Wii Us brinking and I started thinking Nintendo consoles have had the best track record of lasting a long time out of the big 3 and now idk what happened with the Wii U.  Even the 3DS, now I've never dropped my 3DS, but I hear people saying if you do drop it, it will break no doubt, the console is really fragile.  I have dropped my DS a few times and it still works perfectly to this day. 

Even last gen with the PS3 and 360 they had the worst failure rates of any consoles of all time.  So it begs the question are consoles getting more and more undependable?  Personally I never buy consoles at launch, I always wait at least a year in case of any hardware problems, and I'm especially waiting for the PS4 and X1 considering the track record of their previous consoles.  So what do you guys think, are consoles just not made the way they used to be?

Well, it's always been like this, though it's much more common now. I remember Atari Jaguar CDs having high failure rates.

My 2004 PS2 and 2008 PS3 still work. Also my PSP works, can't remember when I got it but it was before I got my PS3.

Your lucky then, I take really good care of my consoles, and my fat PS2 broke down, luckily still got the slim version and the lense on my PS3 crapped out.  Both of those are fairly common, my PSP still works though.

I don't know why but I guess I'm just lucky. Do you keep your consoles in an open enviornment so they don't overheat? Cause I do that with my PS3 and used to with my PS2 (rarely play it now).

They are in a TV stand that has an open back, almost no dust gets on or into them.

the original versions of PS2's, PS3's and X360's have a high failure rate. They produced way more heat than previous consoles which is their issue (atleast PS3's and X360's)

The revisions though are awesome.

I seem to be fairly lucky with consoles, I've never had one die and even my original PS1 still works :P my luck seems to run out with laptops though...

Nintendo systems are built like tanks. The others have poor quality by most standards.

I must be the most lucky person in the world when it comes to consoles because out of all the consoles i have had i never had a console break down on me. I remember my NES and SNES being a pain in the ass when it came to getting games to load up. Megadrive as well but nowhere near as bad as the Nintendo consoles.
I have had to replace the power pack for the SNES.

All other consoles i have had still work as of the last time i tried them. I have had the same console multiple times.
