I just finished reading all 70 pages of this great thread and now I would like to make a contribution of my own. I have been calling the Wii U the Wii Unity since its debut in 2011. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4114084 And although I disagree with JL's 240M LTD sales, I do believe it will be the market leader this generation regardless of my bias for Nintendo and disdain for the 3rd party dev/pubs agenda. As for nin10do's analysis and overall theory on what the consoles specs translate into for developers as far as gaming is concerned, it only reinforced what I already knew. I was actually quite surprised when the PS4 specs were actually announced. I said surprised but not impressed because the moment I saw x86 architecture paired with GDDR5 of all things I knew there would be problems early on. And it shows in the obvious hiccups developers are having with console.
Here are some predictions of my own.
The Wii Unity will surpass the Wii LTD and the PS2 LTD and maybe the DS if this generation goes on as long as I think it will.
Mario Kart 8 is when the true 'onslaught' that is Wii Unity will truly cement this console as the one to get. Think pack-in Gamepad.
Bayonetta 2 is releasing is releasing mid January.
Capcom will become a Nintendo second party.
EA will change their tune regarding the Wii Unity a few months before next years E3 after reporting a devastingly huge drop in profits/revenue in a forthcoming earnings report.
Sony becomes 3rd party.
Microsoft loses exclusivity to key titles to the Wii Unity.
At E3, Nintendo shows off multiplayer title running on 4 gamepads. Gamepad is to be packed in with Mario Kart 8.

Capcom will probably go bankrupt before that, seriously i'd like to see they selling out their franchises to Nintendo instead of keeping this DLC milking games as hard as possible policy kind of thing on a Wii U console.
One blip at the end there... Mario Kart is Q1. I'm guessing Bayo in March with Kart in January, or reversing that, to get the Japanese audience more on board before the PS4 launch.

Everytime I see a poster like this I have to question if it's satire! I checked your post history and it tells me otherwise (most of what you said turned out wrong from the few posts I saw).
Just strikes to me there are so many Nintendo fans in this thread that aren't willing to look at things logically and face the facts, so are coming up with these ridiculous scenario's where Sony go third party and WiiU becomes gamers choice.
Here are some facts that need to be outlined and no longer ignored.
If Sony didn't go third party last gen, they aint ever going third party now. They're getting their finances in order (to the annoyance of many) even their prolific TV division is making money! The PS4 won't sell at a significant loss which only cements its future success being $400. And this WiiU more powerful than PS4? It doesn't have it in its GUTS to be more powerful, all this smoke and mirrors you guys are talking about, you might as well say it's more powerful because there is a little magically mouse in side the WiiU doing its thing, that's how you're coming across.
PS4 and Xbox One carry on giving gamers what they wanted this past gen, WiiU does not. You're talking about a monumental shift in gamers tastes and expectations in quality. The overall image of the WiiU does not appeal to the COD/GTA crowd, and it simply doesn't get the third party games they want. This is exactly why PS360 were as successful in the end as the Wii was.
How is WiiU any different from Wii in that regard? It isn't. You know deep down it isn't. Only this time, it isn't resonating with the blue ocean Nintendo expanding into, which is now evident the majority of the reason the Wii was such a hit.
Why was Wii such a hit vs WIiU? Accessibility. It was easy for anyone to pick up,and play, WiiU is confusing and takes that away. Fresh. It was unlike anything we'd seen before, WiiU is not and to boot the casuals have moved on to tablets and mobiles. That is the new craze and it's here to stay.
You'd think it would be black and white for you guys, the WIi came out of the gates at lightning speed and sold sold sold, based on what it was. It didn't need games (past Wii Sports) and price cuts to help get it going, and it could have still sold like hotpots if it was $300. WiiU has done the opposite! It's tracking below Dreamcast. Yet you guys think that games previously ignored by your standard PS360 type gamer and the masses (Mario kart, Smash) are going to lure in everybody, there is no logic in that. Also this "price cut" is going to help? No it isn't? It's a sku shuffle and as a result the baseline is still $300, regardless of what bundle they were buying before, it's no price drop and it won't have the impact of one. This isn't $299 PS3 slim here.
Lastly, WiiU doesn't have what it takes to be the "everybody" console. I know I wouldn't buy it if Sony or MS went down, and I can bet millions of other PS360 gamers wouldn't either. It doesn't have the quality of online MS and Sony have, it doesn't have IPS that appeal to that crowd, it's very platformer and cartoon heavy, which is no bad thing but it's a niche these days within gamers.
None of you have come up with any logic or reasoning which is why I still doubt the authenticity of the author and posters here, if you are serious tho you need a better argument because simply saying "WiiU will start the revoloution this holiday, Sony will go third party" ect just sounds absurd.
And I love how some of you are moving the goalposts already, I wonder at which point you'll face the facts, when this holiday, when Mario Kart and Smash fail to lift it to Wii levels, let alone UNITY levels.

I stand by my prediction.

They will sell well enough during the holidays but will fall once all the delays hit. And they will come.
That leads me to say that yes, the 'enthusiast' gamer will flock to the Wii Unity eventually once EA and other large devs/pubs are forced to create software because the install base of the Wii Unity will be too great to ignore.
The Wii Unity will be a success. Not a matter of if but when. And that when is soon enough.
The Wii Unity is confusing, how?
Using Mario Kart and Smash Bros. as proof of your argument is laughable. If they play games as much as the next 'enthusiast' gamer it wouldn't matter what console it was on. If its a great people will play it.
The console fanboy nonsense has got to stop. You speak for yourself and you alone.
LOL they're talking about hardware, that doesn't mean they're going or ever will go third party and put their software on MS and Nintendo systems, dude wth.
What delays? All I see right now is Nintendo deaying stuff ...
I'm sorry but did EA and the likes abandon the PS360 when the Wii was selling double what they were combined and breaking records left right and center? No it didn't. You still don't explain why 'enthusiast gamers' will flock to WiiU. Like I already explained WiiU does not OFFER what they want in a gaming system, what part of that don't you get. They're acustomed to a decent online system and the games that are on PS360 (that are barely anywhere to be seen on WiiU) It's just absurd to suggest those games wont sell on PS4/XB1 so EA and the likes will shift support to WiiU of all places (where it's proven they actually sell bad).
PS360 crowd don't like Mario Kart and Smash Bros, Nintendo fans do. It didn't help them win against PS2 and it wont help this time either.
I'm a fanboy for being rational?? You're talking about Sony going third party and completely ignoring what gamers who bought PS360 want from their system.
(1) Bayonetta 2 is releasing is releasing mid January.
(2) At E3, Nintendo shows off multiplayer title running on 4 gamepads.
(3) Gamepad is to be packed in with Mario Kart 8.
(1) Why the hell do you actually think that Bayonetta 2 will be already released in January??! Is this not a bit TOO early? Apart from the E3 Trailer we haven't seen anything of this game yet! Otherwise there must be definitely a November Direct about 2014 games or so...well, we'll see...
(2) Really?? Nintendo confirmed it will only support 2 gamepad, so please don't exaggerate...give me a reason why the Wii U should suddenly support 4 ones... I think 2 are okay and provide enough potential...

(1) Software delays PS4/Xbone
(2) EA and other major 3rd party dev/publishers getting on board with Wii U
(3) FACTS: They do exist
(1)By now I am sure you are aware of CAPCOM UK major layoffs. What games do you think they were working on? Those games will be delayed first. Others will follow. Make no mistake about that.
(2) EA and many notable 3rd party dev/publishers are highly invested in the Xbone and PS4. Where else do you expect them to go if they don't make a return on their investment? PC? Mobile? The Vita? Thewy have choices but those choices are limited in revenue. Wii Unity will offer the safe haven they will need if they intend to survive.
(3) I never said SONY would make software for Nintendo or Microsoft. Only that they have expressed interest in developing the Playstation brand into a 3rd party content.
You are irrational only because you ignored the very information that was provided in the link. I cannot speak on this fanboy nonsense, for it is counterintuitve to what is being discussed in this thread.

(1) Because outside of Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze in Feb and Mario Kart 8 slated for somewhere in Q1, most likely March, there is nothing slated for January and Nintendo needs to keep up the sales momentum post- holiday.
(2) Wii Unity has Eyefinity tech built in. That is all.
(3) I never said it would support 6 players. Please point out where in my statement I did make such a claim.
