Forums - Microsoft - Mass Effect DLC: Meet the Batarians

Looks like they really are going to give the game some nice support.  Ive wanted to bump into the Batarians, but figured I'd have to wait until game 2.  Adding a whole planet is cool. I doubt it will be a full story world, but perhaps a little larger than normal side-quest world.  For 400ms points, the 20 minutes of gameplay or so of a sidequest world and the chance to meet the Batarian's is an awesome deal.

Five bucks for 90 minutes isn't bad but it isn't great, either.

I don't know, five dollars for just 20 minutes?

It's actually 90 minutes. It says it in the link.

Where did the 20 minutes come from? It's 90 minutes.

*Edit: Oops Rocketpig beat me to it :|

Sorry. I didn't see the 90 minutes, so i guesstimated 20min assuming it was a side-quest mission. 90 minutes is pretty awesome for 400ms points IMO.

I kinda wish they would do a bunch of these and release it as one package. But 5 bucks isn't bad for 90 minutes.

I beat it in 8 minutes, and then beat Uncharted in the other 12.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

I always run a worth analysis with my gaming purchases. A hour of game play usually equates to a dollar of worth. That said this content has to have real replay potential to get my moneys worth. I would need to play through it a total of four times to get the value I expect out of my money.

I suppose that totally depends, on how structured the content is. How compelling is the narrative, and how unique the game play is. Are we looking at content in the form of say a Noveria, or are we looking at an environment such as Luna. The primary locals in the game are far more vibrant, entertaining, and in the final analysis worth playing many times. While the likes of the Mako navigated worlds are mostly generic, as in seen one seen them all.

I would gladly purchase another Noveria which seems to match the time span this expansion has, but I wouldn't be keen to play another generic rock. I have dozens of generic rocks to tool around on as is. I will give Bioware the benefit of the doubt for the moment, and assume its strong content rather then weak content. Looks like I will need to rearrange my purchasing plans.
