Forums - Nintendo - Wii U @ WalMart Canada

Stopped in my Walmart in Canada, and contrary to another thread stating the device was being pulled from shelves it was there in abundance.  Actually, the section seems to have doubled in size and now has a black "Wii U" heading.  There isn't a "Vita" section, but there is a Vita presence in the "Playstation" section which is quite large.

In any case what I found most interesting is that there was no Basics to be found.  Usually the Basics were always there and were the slow movers.  With the recent Basic price slash I think they are all gone, and more significant there is no empty "sold-out" space for more to come in.  I am very certain the Basic is done.

Is a price cut the next step?

I really don't think one Walmart is enough to determine whether or not Nintendo's dropping the Wii U Basic or cutting the prices.

When this starts happening in a lot of places, fine. But for now, it's faulty to think that. Metroid Other M can be got for less then 20$, but my Walmart wants 80$ for it. I doubt all Walmart's want 80$ for it or that it's a sign that Metroid Other M is gone to see a huge price rise.

Wait until Nintendo actually announces such a thing, right now you have very flimsy evidence.

It was pulled from ASDA UK... not Canada.

He was saying there are no more basics avaialable due to them being on sale, not from them being pulled out.

I hope so. Get rid of the basic model and take a price cut on the deluxe model making it more appealing come the holiday season. If a price cut was announced I would buy a Wii U immediately.

Not from the way he's worded it.
