Forums - Microsoft - How Microsoft handed the NSA access to encrypted messages

I've attacked google and facebook before for doing the same thing. I think that if these american companies actually banded together and stood up to the government, that they could enforce some change.

How can we start that process if we dont even know the specifics of how these companies are working with the government? We can't.

The message that I intended is entirely lost, as the people on this thread are thinking as fans of a platform, rather than as Americans who deserve certain rights. Mods, please do the responsible thing, and lock this thread now.

Couldn't agree more. Who are you trying to kid, us or yourself? You know full well why you opened this thread which A) has already been covered and B) is a month old.

Nikkom is from the Netherlands as well, why would he think like an American citizen lol.

Just give it up Dallas.

The whole revelation of the Prism project was a joke. More along the lines of "nothing to see here, move along". It is a wide spread belief that since 9/11 that the US government has been listening to everything. The only way anyone can point to one company and blame them, is because they already have a bias against that company to begin with. It seems the US government has forced pretty much every company to comply. My guess is that Sony and Nintendo have complied, but their reach is so small in comparison to others, they aren't mentioned.

I would rather that the government was reading my email and text messages than not. I have no plans to break any laws or cause any harm to anyone, so i am not afraid of their review of my communications. I get the whole "fear the loss of your rights" idea, but i look at it in a different perspective. With technology today, terrorists both foreign and domestic have it extremely easy. Why no make them work to do harm to others. In the US, we have free speech, but not the right to freely plan the death or harm to others.

I'm going to keep up the attacks on the companies that do this as long as they are spying on us. You people dont know me but if you did you would realize that i'm a very private person, and people like that usually hate others snooping on them.

Secondly, I think that google and the rest of them should be shamed as well.

Is that fair, or not? At least answer my question before you two go into another diatribe against me.

They haven't complied, and dont have to, bc they aren't American companies like Google, Facebook and Microsoft as well.

The government has much more influence on companies that are headquartered or at least do most of their business in the US.

This was already posted.

Locking.

Thanks. It quickly degenerated even though I tried to keep it as fair as possible.

Nah, Google, Facebook and other companies whose services that I use do the same thing, and I dont like it one bit.

There is however, no google, or facebook forum on this website so I'm posting my MSFT related info here.

besides, I just posted some positive infomation about MSFT, with its gain in tablet marketshare.  I always say something good about a person or company if i'm going to say something bad about them, seems fair that way.

so, you don't post bad news about google because there is no google forum on this webiste but you posted already like 100 different good threads about google? makes totally sense.

and don't try to tell people that you also post good stuff about microsoft. your threads about microsoft which are "good" have always the information in it that google did better. as example exactly the last one you mentioned.  it's pretty easy to see that you post those threads to show that google is doing better as microsoft in these segments.

people are not stupid...
