Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One drops the Xbox Guide

so what,s the point off Kinect again? if they are making the old way so more efficient. Kinect should have been a separate peripheral instead of putting it in every box, they didn't even show a single Kinect only game at E3

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I can't imagine most people will have a problem with this, at least not the people who are actually getting the One. Now people that aren't getting it will be pissed, I'm sure.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Because they got berated for it previous E3's, can't have it both ways (though they did show Kinect Sports Rivals just after their conference)

Anyhow, Kinect is suppose to compliment the system, not to be used constantly.

They got berated in 2011 also didn't stop them in 2012, if they thought it was the right thing to do they would have showed a couple Kinect game at least. Putting a peripheral that's not in constant use in EVERYONE of your bundles is a dumb move, if you are going to force something into every buyers it better be the main selling point of your console

A natural thing for Xbox gamers to do is press the guide button, especially if in game, especially if you receive an achievment or an invite into a game.  This article and the conversation in the podcast is about how the functionality of the Guide has been replaced with access to the entire OS.

This is made more efficient with Kinect, as the article actually highlights.  Press the Guide button, then you can say Xbox Snap Skype and talk to your friend via Skype using video made available by the RGB camera in Kinect, while you're playing the game.

KNOCK IT OFF!

This thread isn't about Kinect games or E3.  This is about a change to how the Xbox One Guide button works.  If you don't want to talk about that, go find another thread to talk about your subject in.

I'm ready for the instant transitions of next gen. My Vita has totally spoiled me to the point that now my PS3 feels sluggish and controlling. I know that's not really fair, it's a device that's several years older, but the Vita feels like magic in comparison. A button press and a swipe and I can instantly stop my game and check the PS Store or another app then go back to my game right away, with the other stuff still open. Another button press and the console is instantly on standby where I can resume my game at any time. If the next gen consoles are like that then I'm very ready for the upgrade.

that's suppose to be an upgrade? hahaha Sure it's nice, but far from an upgrade. I guess that cool for ocd people. I mean think of the seconds you can save with that feature.

Bad decision i think, i liked the Xbox guide. But if going to dashboard now pauses the game in it's state without losing progress i guess it's ok. If it work's anything like PS Vita's interface then it's ok. I love how instant Vita's interface is and it just pauses the game with no problem.

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Lol at people being upset.

The current guide is a gimped version of the dashboard. Now it is the full version of the dashboard. How that could be seen as a negative is beyond me.

I was gonna say the exact same thing. People who actually complain about this are doing it for the sake of complaining alone.
