High sale numbers from previous games on the psp vs no establish userbase on the wii U.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I'm afraid you're going to have to back that one up. |
Rockstar never had a presence on nintendo consoles, why should they bother with the WiiU now? GTA fans are spread between the PS3, Xbox 360 and a bit for the PC. their other games like RDR, L.A noire, and max payne all skipped nintendo consoles. my point is, they do NOT have a fanbase on nintendo consoles. yes china town wars sold 1.2M but thats on a console that sold 150+ and everybody had it, the game had a 93 metacritic, so it isnt the games fault. other than that game GTA has never been on a nintendo console. then look at the CoD sales on the WiiU, a very low 190K. thats CoD and thats a franchise that HAD a fanbase on nintendo consoles before which sold between 1.4-1.8 million. then on the WiiU it performed 190K. If CoD sold that bad why wouldnt GTA? specially when it doesnt have a fanbase on the console.
add to that is that Nintendo is a brand that is family friendly, whether nintendo likes it or not it is. a huge chunk of its sales comes from parents buying it for their kids, that audince simply isnt interested in games like GTA. and probably the most important factor is that porting a game with the scale of GTA wont be easy and cheap. this game is HUGE. the maps is extremely huge. the content is unbelievably high and rockstar have their standards. porting everything to the WiiU wont be easy, wont be cheap and wont be fast. it will take tons of resources and time to do it and all for what? a few hundered thousand? their fanbase is already on the PS360, why bother? ohh and it doesnt help that the WiiU sales are beyond horrible at this point (i just remembered to add this right before pressing post)
so to sum it up
1- rockstar never had a presence on nintendo consoles
2- all their fans already have atleast one of the two consoles, except maybe the few PC fans
3- Even though CoD had its fan base and fans on the Wii the WiiU version of CoD only sold 190K
4- A lot of WiiU owners are kids who are interested in games like mario and mario kart, games that are generally targeted towards kids. kids who arent interested in games like GTA
5- lengthy and costly porting of the game that simply wont be worth it, specially considering how big GTA5 is
6- extremely bad WiiU sales.
so yes, mainly due to those reasons i think porting GTA5 to WiiU would be an extremely stupid idea that simply wont have any benifit towards rockstar what so ever

well, since you can preorder the pc version on german amazon for some weeks now at least this version should be safe.

A lot of people are asking it for it on Wii U, and GTA has an established fanbase on Nintendo systems. Chinatown Wars sold 1 Million+ on the DS alone. It would be smart. It would be stupid if they DIDN'T put it on the Wii U. |
I'm laughing so hard, "established base" "lots of people".
@ Khan, doesn't need backing up, it's common sense. The userbase for that type of game is NOT on WiiU, as COD/AC third party game sales tell us. With the game on PS360 and X1/PS4 (should it launch there) there would be no reason for people to pick up a WiiU for the game.

Rockstar has standards...the GTA IV PC port was ass. Anything can happend. I seriously doubt they say anything now. If they said PS4 or One now. Sales would slump for ps3/360.

No one necessarily is going to pick up a Wii U for it, no, but people give the Nintendo base too little credit. When publishers treat us right, we do the same (it's just that they so rarely do).
Though i suppose TakeTwo isn't interested in brand-building. Ah well.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I would say Ubisoft have 'treated' Nintendo fans and have got jack shit in return.
There are certain games that should and shouldn't go to WiiU, GTAV is the latter, it's on too many other platforms with people likely to pick it up, and Nintendo fans don't typically buy into mature rated games.
Give it the Rayman Legends, the Plants Vs Zombies ect but not GTAV, The Division ect.
