He is just assuming that every game cost $ 1 million to port based on the ubisoft statement. In order to know how much rockstar need to sell to make a profit, first: he has to know how much will cost Rockstar to port a game like GTA based on internal numbers and second: he need to know how much they get in return for every copy sold. Since we don't have those numbers as evidence, assuming selling 100k = profit is wishful thinking at best. I doubt it cost $1 million to port a game like GTA, probably cost much more.

you dont have to tell me, i know all that and im sure most people know that but dont want to accept it

I would totally buy mass effect 3 for wii u if I had the console, but NOT with the trilogy releasing a week before on everything else. It's too much of a disrespect with the consumer.

why a gta5 version would be profitable and positive in every sense of the word was already said again and again on this topic. you're the troll hater who keeps deluding yourself even after all the arguments were already rubbed in your face.

Disrespect is a strong word, its video games, not politics or anything important, but if thats the way you feel thats the way you feel. Wait...you dont even have Wii U? then what are you complaining about? LOL

No one had any arguments, no one proved anything, it all came down to Im a Ninty fan and i want the game on a Ninty console, which is fine but that doesnt prove how it will be profitable. RS would not sell that much more copies to justify a port especially a late one.

bolded: excep for the 10 times it was said that it shouldn't take much more than 100k  to proft (it will probably reach 1M) from the port + the benefits of establishing the franchise.

do you work for Rockstar? Do you know how much they would need to sell to make a profit? Because unless anyone here actually works for said company, it is speculation at best, pulling numbers from their butt at worst.

We have information from ubisoft of how much it costs to port a game, from there it's just simple math. now let me ask you a question: why do you think developers will release games on ps4/xone? certainly most of those games won't do much more than 100/200k on a 2M installed base wich by your logic, means those games shouldn't be released there.

it's still just porting so your "much more" can't possibly differ much from the 1M standard. and it still doesn't change the fact that it would easily profit, establish the franchise on wii u, help wii u sales, be a great addition to wii u owners, good for everyone. Yet some people have to come here almost religiously, taking excuses for arguments out of their ass simply because THEY DON'T WANT WII U TO HAVE THE GAME.

gtav on wii u = easy money for rockstar. if that's the stupidest thing ever, I don't know what would be considered clever.

According to this how much would GTA5 need to sell? cant be bothered working it out.

something between 100k and 200k. and we're talking about a possible million seller.

I don't think it could hit a million due to the size of the Install base of the WiiU I could see it selling around 500-600k max. My reason is the WiiU only has 2 games that have sold over a million and both of them are exclusives, the game that comes in at 3rd is a pitiful 480k and that was also an exclusive, the first real third party game comes in at 6 (im not going to include MH) which sold 250k. And COD which is a franchise as big as GTA if not bigger now only managed 190k and that was a good port not a half arsed one.

But lets say it needs 150k to break even, then they'll be sitting with a nice little profit at the end if it managed around 500k.

games released later tend to sell more than launch titles, shocking isn't it? besides gta has good legs, I wasn't saying it would do 1M imedeately but after some months and wii u's new installed base it's quite possible.

okay, I got it. you think software sales are doomed to the same level of multiplatform launch titles. I'll remember that when you predict ps4/xone software sales.

@Zero999

It isn't about if we (ps, xbox owners) want the game to be on Wii U or not, we really don't care the platform the games is released as long as everybody can play the game, the point of the argument is if it really worth the port for the developer perspective and since we don't work for them, every argument including yours is based solely on opinion.

So porting it is just a thing of copy and paste then?, so you're saying it doesn't matter the type of game, every game will cost around a million, if it is that easy, why in the hell the console are missing a lot of AAA multiplatform titles on the console? oh yeah, I know, the conspiracy theory.

Bananaking and oniyide have provide enough evidence that support my opnion, I won't repeat the same again, but something is for sure, if rockstar decide to not port the game on the console, it because it isn't worth it for them, not because their hate o any conspiracy theory, or because they are stupid. The game has been 5 years on development and they know the game will sell more than 20 million on ps3/360/pc alone.

Just leave it....There is no reasoning.
