Forums - Sony - Tons of First Party PS4 Games Left To Be Revealed At Gamescom

Sony’s Gamecom 2013 conference has been confirmed for August 20th, the day before the main show, at 6pm UK time. It should be interesting as Sony previously teased PS4 games have been held back. Uncharted 4 teaser? It’s got to be Uncharted 4.

Sony’s Gamecom conference: August 20th, 6pm GMT

SCEE president and CEO Jim Ryan said a while back that the plan was to space out announcements, following it up by adding: “There’s a lot coming. I’m sure you heard from Shu [Yoshida] that he has, just his studios, he has 30 games in development. 20 are going to ship within the console’s first year of life, and of those 12 are new IPs… There’s a lot going on, it’s just we need to keep stuff back. We’ve Gamescom for us Europeans, and we need to have something to show at Gamescom don’t we?!”

Assuming that the so far announced first party games are part of the 30 strong line up (Driveclub, Hohokum, Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, MLB 14: The Show, The Order: 1886 and Super Stardust HD 2) that leaves 22 new Sony games in total. Of those, 8 will be new IPs if Hohokum, The Order 1886, Driveclub and Knack are part of that 12 Ryan mentions (and Sony aren’t including The Playroom as a full game).

I wouldn't get your hopes too high. They'll likely still leave some stuff to be revealed at TGS. Plus it's likely that stuff like the Playroom is included as part of that 20 exclusives number. Sony will want to include anything they can to inflate the number.

I know but Europe is Sony's biggest market so I'm expecting HUGE news.

My guess is we'll see the next Naughty Dog game, more gameplay for the previously shown titles (hopefully The Order) and possibly the new IP from SSM.

I think the Naughty Dog title will be revealed at the VGA (Video Game Awards).

The Last of Us and Uncharted 3 were both revealed there.

Wont be UC4. I see that being revealed during Spike game awards just like the previous two I believe.

If they really have as many games still to reveal as they claim, i'm very impressed with how they have been playing their cards. To the general gaming masses, Sony pretty much destroyed MS at E3, despite MS showing a better line up of previously un-announced games. I'd say it was thanks, in part, to that E3 defeat that MS ended up doing a full 180 on so many thing.

You have to wonder if they had anticipated that victory and decided to reserve some games for future "battles", so to speak.

I thought we knew this already, and no game like playroom will not be included in the total. Hell we could add all those indy games and the list would look really lopsided right now. But they arn't doing that.

Good point. So what are you expecting from Gamescom then? Now that I think about it I see Media Molecule's next game as a possibility, seeing as how they're Sony's only major European developer whose current project is unknown (I think. Tearaway is from a second team IIRC)
