I really enjoyed FFXIII and will definitely be getting FFXV, so screw you all! >:D

theres an outside of the battlefield? oh yeah, its so mundane i almost forgot. I think that is one of those series you play mostly for the combat and visuals. But thats just me. |
Combat and visuals have always been front and center in Final Fantasy, but I believe that the best entries in the series are relatively well-rounded. And don't shove their linear progression down the player's throat all the time.

FF isn't dead until it doesn't sell. That said I have much more issue with Square putting pressure on Eidos for continually putting out good games yet not getting the respect they deserve. They need to learn who is making them their money because it isn't them anymore (See FFXIV).
I thoroughly enjoyed XIII but XIII-2... god that was a bore. Anywho, I'm looking forward to both Final Fantasy XIV and XV. On a side note, though Final Fantasy sales have declined throughout the years, it is still the best selling RPG franchise this generation.

This is SE's fault though how much eidos contributed to it is cloudy. It could be compounded by eidos telling HQ their expectations on games, and then HQ making plans around that. Either way it's SE fault because they own Eidos. SE has basically said Eidos makes really good games, but financially they weren't as lucrative as they were hoping/expecting (which is everyone's fault involved).
Eidos has always put out really good quirky games, that don't sell as well as I wish (This led to SE buying eidos in the first place). They've had various debacles over the years Daikatana comes to mind.

Final Fantasy is getting too complicated for its own good, turn back to basics: modest hero, finding companions one by one, traveling in a world, them vehicles, then better weapons, then misteries. Keep it humble, keep it slow, less crazyness, less crazy clothing: focus on a fun game for once. Or, keep this in mind: when making a game, REMEMBER CHRONO TRIGGER. |
Hell I'm glad someone remembers..

This thread is worth it because of that pic.
With that said, FF is not dead yet.
I disagree....Yes the XIII games have sent the brand into it's lowest point since the First FF...but with the right moves Square can reclaim their former glory. If XV shapes up to be what we all expect and hope it to be, SE will see their honour restored

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
