more important than to help cure cancer?

We should start a VGC team, I'm sick of folding for Joystiq,

Hmm, cure cancer or stop global warming?

I wouldn't make a big deal out of this, except that leaving your PS3 on to fold consumes about 200 W of power that ordinarily wouldn't be consumed (whereas many people leave their PCs on anyway, a PS3 would likely remain turned off when it's not playing games or movies).  200 W * 24 hours * 30 days = 144 kWh per month.  That's a LOT of electricity, to the tune of $10-15 a month.

If you heat your house, then you're not really wasting any energy. All energy your ps3 consumes ends up becoming heat. So unless you have the furnace turned off, you're not actually wasting anything.

Hate to say it but I rarely use it. I don't like leaving my PS3 on for long periods of time if I'm not playing it.
