Well that's disappointing but the console just isn't selling enough. Hopefully Mario Kart will boost sales.

Problem is there is going to be even less available space next spring with Xbox One and PS4 out. 360 and PS3 shelf space won't be sacraficed if they're still selling well, it'll be the stuff that isn't.

:(

I want the WiiU to sell well. I really really hope Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros can help shift a lot of units. If Nintendo could just figure out how to get third party support then the WiiU could have been doing so much better. A price cut would also help a lot.

I doubt this is all ASDA stores. The reason being is that ASDA stores range from 25,000sqft (small) to 120,000sqft (large) Most US Big Box stores are, in contrast, are 175,000sqft to 200,000sqft.

Target offers the smallest big-box store, with Wal-Mart offering the largest big-box stores.

Unlike the US and Canada where a company like Wal-Mart typically finds it easy to expand, in the UK it is very difficult. I mean there's a Wal-Mart in Mexico built on Mayan ruins, and they attempted to build a store on a Civil War battlefield. For them, it's easy to build and if necessary expand.

In the UK, there rarely is the room and often when there is there is significant resistance to it. So, some ASDA's will likely lose merchandise if it doesn't sell significantly well. However, I doubt the larger stores will cease it.

Interesting! Shame they built wal marts on Mayan ruins in Mexico :(

Despite their attempts to prove otherwise, Wal-Mart is not a great company.  Not that other companies can't do shitty things either, but Wal-Mart has effectively destroyed towns and even the livelihoods of people.

Yes, people save money, but they do so at a significant cost.

Lol it makes sense, stop selling Wii U when decent games are coming and it starts selling better. Pikmin 3 is number 2 in the UK charts and they didnt even bother selling that.
As long as dedicated game stores dont stop selling Wii U, which they wont, it will do just fine.

good news, I guess, since Nintendo is losing money on each wii U sold if they sell less they lose less money, when the next mario game launch they will probably be making money on each wii U by then so the bg boost they will get from mario will make them a lot of money, Nintendo at it again with their next gen economics

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

CVG understands that the company did not stock Nintendo's latest release, Pikmin 3, a widely acclaimed title which entered at number two on the UK all formats charts.

did anything else release this week or does that imply that TLoU retains the top spot?

Minecraft is first. TLoU is 3rd

So, would it be correct to say this is neither a major blow to the Wii U nor an insignificant one?

I completely agree, all in the name of GREED.

"The retailer is not stocking 3DS systems online either - despite the handheld outselling the Xbox 360 and PS3 in the UK and across the US, while 3DS software sales are outperforming the competition too."

You missed a bit.

huh?

weird.

As I recall Amazon doesn't sell 3DS either do they?

At least in regards to the 3DS I'm thinking Nintendo allows retailers a VERY slim margin.

Can't say whether that's the case of Wii U or if it's just because of poor sales like the vita. (Presumibly, amazong still carries it)

I'd recommend putting in the 3DS bit as well.

It's surprising, and a small blow. Nothing on the level of the Amazon boycott, though.

Eh, i'd disagree.  The Amazon thing 90% of people won't even notice since you can get it from sellers on amazon anyway.
