Sounds like a good idea on paper but do food safety standards even exist in the USA? Cows are full of bovine, Chickens born and die in cages and your crops are pumped full of chemicals by Monsanto 666. Enforce regulation in your own country before demand others to do so. Also, stop food dumping. You are destroying the agriculture industries of developing countries. Democrat or Republican, i would support them if they stopped being the bitch for corporations.

Yes, they do.  If there weren't, eating would be a lot more risky than it is.  What you're referring to has nothing to do with food safety and more to do with animal rights and how you personally feel about these things being done.  There's not definitive proof that the way we do things has any detrimental side effects to our health.

I though putting bovine hormone in cows meant puberty happened a bit earlier than it should of for humans and also made them fatter. And i'm sure what Monsanto did to wheat can't be good when there have been no proper tests on GM food. Also, i know it don't matter how cattle lived in how it affects our health but they taste so much better if they were organic. Things just need to be done on a smaller and more local scale and they should be fine.

US health standards are not pretty high, so I don't think it will have much of an effect.

I have to agree with you on this, especially all the processed crap. corn syrup is a good friend of the united states. Pluse the united states is the fast food captial of the world. there's pretty much a fast food place on every street corner. I guess it also has alot to do with people being lazy and not caring about what they eat. I'm certainly guilty of it.

In the end, safety standards aren't about if they make you fat or make you hit puberty earlier.  The safety standards are about if foods aren't treated properly and can literally poison you, cause death, or something of a similar caliber.

Really... the only thing I find shocking is that imported food didn't have to pass US Safety standards in the first place.

That... doesn't make much sense.  The FDA isn't testing imported foods?

Guess that would explain why 50+% of Fish is intentionally mislabeled as cheaper fish.

Not sure if....

You'd believe wrong...  The science tends to show that isn't the case... and it really just makes sense becaus the hormones break down when digested.  The whole thing was just a wives tale created because kids seemed to be maturing early and as society does, it just tried to blame the first thing that sounds possible to the common person without any research.  The most likely considered "culprit"? obesity.   That is, if you consider 1 year diffrence in a small sample significant.

Pretty much all the vegetabels i get are locally grown organic foods, but people GREATLY overexaggerate the positive health benefits of such foods due to wives tales like this. Really in general the health food world is 60% old wive's tales, 30% modern myths and maybe 10% actual science.

Also, there have been tests on GMO foods.  They just generally don't show anything wrong outside a few studies that didn't really hold up to rigorus scrutiny. Which is sort of the problem with these sort of things.  You never here about the 100 stories where everythings great, just the 1 story where something maybe is't so great.

Why would they show anything wrong?  You are genetically altering the food to be like antoher completely edible food.

The biggest risks lie largely just in allergines.

The only reasonable reason to be against GMO's right now is because of the US's (and maybe europe?   I dunno) silly application of patents relating to GMOs.  Which really DOES need to change.

Genetically modifying foods is actually a tradition that goes back.... centuries.  The only thing that's changed is the way we do it.  Instead fo waiting seasons for crossbreeding to take effect.  We do it in a lab... and we actually test it... which wasn't the case for crossbreeding.

In the future GMO's will be used (hopefully) to make healthier nutritous foods.

Putting manmade chemicals in our cattle and crops surely can't be good for us. I say go organic all the way.
