Sometimes, in a world of high end graphics, incredible voice acting, cinema quality storylines and production values galore, I forget about the "magic" that really makes video games special.
After picking up Trine 2 for myself and two other friends and playing a couple of hours of it today, I remember just what that magical feeling is. It's working together in fun way to try and solve puzzles, or purposefully trying to stop the other player doing something using your abilities for a laugh, or trying to work together in a fight by comboing different abilities together in new and unique ways. That coupled with an incredibly vibrant fantasy setting that makes me feel like i did when i played games when I was younger, I was just having fun plain and simple. There are so many cheaper/indie games out there now, that I think feelings like this are becoming more common again, where games are made to be plain fun and nothing else, not sad and moving or thought provoking or technical showpieces but pure unadulterated entertainment.
Had a wonderful time with this game, has anyone else played a game recently that made them feel similar to this? Or maybe I am just very odd haha.
