Kotick is the devil. What you're saying sounds like EA without the triple A titles.

What exactly has Activision done that is so much worse? And everyone agrees that EA is fucking shitty, that is not a high bar.

EA might suck but they've got my favorite developer outside of NaughtyDog and Rockstar hostage and thats Bioware. Activision doesn't care about quality, they'll work IP's down your throat and nickel and dime you on the way down to hell. They've found out how to maximize profit in the craziest ways, but the majority who just think and just buy fall for it. I call it the American gamer syndrome. That and Bobby Kotick is responsible for dipping Activisions hand in Xbox Live profits.

Activision has a very high bar for quality, higher than EA's for sure I mean at least the games that Activison release you know work. Just because you don't personaly like the games they produce (I'm not a fan of their output either to be honest) doesn't mean they are of a low quality. And if you want to talk nickle and diming then EA and Zynga make Activision look like fucking saints. EA is the company that puts microtransactions in AAA games, pushed for online passes, sells cheat codes the list never ends with EA. And Zynga they are the very definition of nickle and diming with their entire business model built on litteral nickles and dimes by exploitative skinner box designs with their energy based social games, and pay to win mechanics. Compared to those two Activisions really comes out looking better no matter the comparison, and blame MS for the XBL thing they are the ones that giving it in exchange for timed DLC.

You are really not putting forward a convincing arguement for Activision being worse than EA or Zynga.

First order of business before you claim the vouche for the decent nature of Activision. How many AAA IP's has Activision put out opposed to EA? Activision is a train, they burn out a promising franchise to suck the money out of your wallet. They care not for the quality. This is what separates Blizzard from Activision. Blizzard has a development mentality and Activision just has a corporate suit mentality. EA as evil as they are, they are smart. They have gobbled up some of the industry's top free agents and are now putting them through the mill, but luckily not a yearly mill like Activision.

I don't see how number of franchises is really relevent to the conversation, Activision is about quality (in terms of market appeal) over quantity that doesn't make them "evil" it's just good business. Maximising the market potential of a franchise isn't "evil" either again it's just good business, strike while the iron is hot as they say. EA have more annualised franchises than Activision same with Ubisoft, you can't use that to single out Activison. All businesses are out to get your money if they weren't they wouldn't be in business. Activison are the best in the business at delivering what the market wants when they want it, it's smart business. Activision even ignoring the Blizzard half of the company is far more profitable than EA, so I don't really see how you can call EA smart. And EA are closing down their partners program because it was a failure Titanfall will be the last game they launch through that. Activision on the other hand picked up Bungie of ten years. EA is well known for aquring studios strip mining them and then discarding them.

@zarx:

I can accept that EA and Zynga can even be eviller than Activision, but Activision deserves the throne for Lawful Evil, while EA and Zynga tend more towards Chaotic, or Neutral Evil at best. As Chaotic Evil, it's almost a tie between Zynga and EA, while neither of them can beat MS as Neutral Evil.

Yes, that's legit.

As long as Nintendo = 'good' and EA = 'evil', I'm good. Anyway, I agree with those saying it would be better if they'd combine Activision and Blizzard into the lawful neutral category and picked someone else for the chaotic neutral category. Naturally, that'd be Ubisoft.

I like to keep Blizzard and Activision separate because they act differently when it comes to consumers. They both have a if its not broken dont fix it attitude, but still they approach things very differently.

Okay I get that.

Where does Ubisoft come in then though? They're a big player to say the least. Are they the Dungeon Master ?

Nintendo should be put in evil for starving their fans from games since 2008 when the great gaming drought started, we at the worst right now but don't forget the wii drought so many gamers died starved from their hobby

2008:

Endless Ocean, Brawl, MK Wii, Mario Super Sluggers, Wario Land, Animal Crossing: City Folk.

2009:

Punch Out, Excite Bots, Wii Sports Resort, Metroid Prime Trilogy, NSMB Wii

2010:

Endlesss Ocean: Blue World, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Samurai Warriors 3, PokePark Wii, Metroid: Other M, Wii Party, Kirby's Epic Yarn, FlingSmash, DKCR

2011:

Mario Sports Mix, Wii Play: Motion, Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Fortune Street

2012:

Rhythm Heaven Fever, Mario Party 9, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Kirby's Dream Collection, Nintendo Land, NSMB U, Ninja Gaiden 3

And that's only counting retail Wii/Wii U releases, not digital stuff or DS/3DS releases. Sorry, but on average, that's about the same, if actually more some years, than Sony's first party publishing output. The first half of 2013? For THAT you'd absolutely have a point. But saying "since 2008"? Very weak argument.
