Spanish is my native language and from reading his tweets I assume it'll be some Digital Foundry tech analysis not talking very good about the PS4 RAM. I quote one of his tweets: "Both consoles will be fine, but initially one looked much more powerful than the other and the advantage is slowly disolving."

Which is no problem at all. Even if PS4 is not as powerful as stated (not spec-wise but regarding the performance of the whole system) it is still a very good console, as Xbone is. Both are very good upgrades to their predecessors and graphics will see a big leap.

The only thing I fear is that the new consoles will be much earlier graphically underpowered compared to mid-high end PC's (a PC everybody can afford). This gen the consoles will be very much like a PC and what in the past could has been tweaked with costume hardware will be much less this time.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

I think this time consoles will reach their limit way faster, too. Like it happened to the first Xbox. Devs are used to the architecture and systems. Devs had a "lucky" time over the past generations because the tech was always new to everyone and so all started by zero and could learn the system to squeeze more performance out of it. Now you have well-known uncomplicated tech that just works and there is plenty of documentation available.

But comparing to PC is useless to me. These are two different worlds, in my opinion. They share a lot of games but in general they target different audiences.

and it's over.

"Calm down! It's just some info about how memory works and nothing more. Nothing serious! "

Devs will just have to perform some complicated New Age, pseudo-Egyptian magic ritual to allocate memory.

maybe they are locking up some memory for first gen to help develop and streamline OS better.. as it already looks like none of the developers are using RAM above 4 gigs..

great Jonathan Blow again... now this makes me wonder, what Dev kits was he developing witness on?, i mean even GG had dev kits with 4 gigs of ram and KZSF using 3 gigs as mentioned in the article.. or is he talking about PC development.. even so 5 gigs an insane amount of ram even for a AAA game on a PC. still majority of the developers untill recently had PS4 dev kits with 4 gigs, and to bump it upto 8 gigs was sony last minute decision which took everyone by surprise even sony's own studios had no idea abt it..

but on the original topic i still think, the news (if there is any) will about sony locking down the memory for OS.. lets wait and see

6gb of gddr5 is still better than 5 of ddr3.  but it would be nice just to knock the pompous arrogant sony crowd of their pedestal.

It's funny, we had Xbox One memory/chip rumors, now it's for the PS4. Taking 2 GB for the OS should still not effect most currently developed games - as they were developing on 4GB (Minus OS) till a few months ago. And I find it unlikely anyone is suddenly using more than 6 now.

Or it could be an unrelated problem due to design flaws that I pointed out a long time ago. Guess we have to wait until tomorrow.

Link to design flaws pleeeeeaaaase?

I'll have to give it to you privately, it was mostly about concepts.  I will get yelled at and called a name if I post it here.  (Even when I'm right, well, escially when I'm right.)

By the way, did you used to be someone else before?  You seem so familiar.

Nope.
