Forums - Sony - PlanetSide 2 On PS4 Is 'Basically PC Version On Max Settings'

Eddie_Raja said:

That's a beta and nearly no info is shown about what settings are turned on.  Probably the setting that makes it look 10% better and halves the framerate...

There are the setthings... they just changed the Resolution to make the tests... please read the thread.

I'm getting tired of this "Optimization" BS.  It can only get you so far.  Let me give you an example:

-The $30 HD 6450 is about equivalent to the 7 year old (Then High-end) GPU in the PS3.

-Bioshock Infinite set to its lowest preset runs at 30 FPS in 720p on an HD 6450, and it looks as good if not a little better than the PS3 version (Probably due to more RAM allowing bigger textures).

Now I own a 6450 and a PS3 so I ran this test for fun.  I also did a similar thing with BF3 and got the same results.  Optimization only gets you so far...

I will give you a hint... the HD 6450 is more powerful than the PS3 GPU lol.

That what we call "console optimizations".

And this video says to me that you are telling something wrong to me: http://youtu.be/ArJNHvTFUoA

HD 6450 didn't run BioShock Infinite in 720p with constant framerate... neither have the same quality than the PS3 version lol.

Look at this baby...PS4 screenshots this game is beautiful.

No way it could handle FC3, Crysis 3, or Metro: Last Light Maxed out with AA in 1080p at 60 FPS... And that is ok!!!

PS4 can... you just need to optimize to run on consoles.

the HD 6450 is by no means an "equivalent" to the RSX, maybe they fall into a similar "flops" range, but it's architecture is way more efficient (RSX didn't even have unified shaders, so depending on the situation a lot of it's processing units are just idle because there is no job for them) and it uses a more advanced shader model that puts less strain on the hardware to enable certain effects

I thought that even the most powerful gaming rigs aren't able to run this game max settings and maintain a steady framerate.

They aren't.   Because the game doesn't properly allow multicore threading.  If it did... it'd be pretty easy to run this at max framreate with max settings.

Which is what they are planning to fix in the port.

It's a demadning game... but only because of developer inadequcy.  If it were programmed correctly it would run on much weaker hardware.

My Phenom X3 2009 rig can run this game just fine high settings/low shadows at 768p. But that was not the case a few months ago, the game is much better optimized right now, should easily run 1080p/30FPS on PS4.

lol no.

I pick the same PS4 resolution...everything in High setthing... you can see more here: http://forums.videocardz.com/topic/188-planetside-2-performance-test/

While it currently run on a $500 computer... it runs a lot better now then it did in October of last year... yet still mostly runs like shit due to it being programmed with signle core pc's in mind for some reason.

I wouldn't compare games that are technically demanding because of poor programming (which they plan to fix) vs games that are technically demadning because they are technically demanding.

It is! Ethomaz was again in his special state where he leaves reality and makes a post out of this world (no offense!) but he usually comes back fast to mother earth. :)

My post is accurate... sorry if it hurts you... PS4 can handle any * I say any * game released on PC today in 1080p60 in max setthings.

Sorry if it hurts you but usually people have to prove their claims. You can't because you hide your proof in "optimization".

Take a look at this setup. The CPU is ages away from what Xbone and PS4 have and the GPU is also stronger, leave aside he also overclocked it. And now look at the framerates... Really ethomaz, there is no need to put up a comparison between PC and consoles. These are two totally different domains. They always were and will always be. This doesn't hurt me or anyone, comparisons to PCs are useless.

And until 2015? This was the biggest laugh today :D

You ARE hurt. I don't see ethomaz making unrealistic claims and end 90% of his sentences with "i don't care", which seems to be a trademark of yours! And lol at the bold part. Laughing at what you don't understand, is all because of your strong bias to be able to belive anything you don't want to see.

But go ahead, continue your claims to everyone about your superior knowledge. If you try hard enough you just might get there someday ;)

That's a pretty old version, the new menus don't even look like that, are you able to find a more recent benchmark to compare? Will the PS4 version also have PhysX type support we see in the PC version?
