Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario & Luigi: Dream Team only sold about 100,000 units FW- Is this finally proof that gamer's are burned out on Mario?

this comparisons are stupid and useless. now a big percentage of the sells comes via digital downloads. Stop being ridiculous.

A big percentage? dont be silly! it wouldnt be more than 30% lol I would say more in the region of 15% tbh...

1 percent, 2 percent, 3 percent, 50 percent, 80 percent, it doesn´t matter the exact number. The thing is that you can´t make a comparisson, because there is a percentage of games sold that are not included.

I don't think the fact that M&L sales were underwhelming proves Mario is overdone...
The same concerns arose over Mario Tennis Open and Nintendo reported it's a million seller...
The fact that Mario is overdone proves that Mario is overdone...
We don't need to look at sales to see that...
At least now they can focus on other franchises...
They will, right???

Have a nice day...

I think releasing to MArio RPG's in a year was a mistake. It would've been fine if it weren't for Paper Mario.

But it's the year of Luigi. :,(

Yeah, where the hell is Paper Luigi?

His crazy stories in Thousand Year Door were the best. I wanna play that game!

Its just cause you said big percentage thats all.... People have been doing this for years? ps3 and vita have had first day full retail digital games for years! and that hasnt stopped anyone from making these comparisons.

I would actually say that 30% is a pretty huge percentage. You're right, 15% is more likely, but we've seen 20% for some games already, and that's enough to make the difference between a disappointment and a handy profit.

Digital also seems to still be growing. And I suspect its most dramatic effect is on the long tail, since the games are never out of print/stock and latecomers might choose buy the game digitally instead of used.

I blame eShop sales.

Fixed!

It's because they released it during the Summer, the holidays will truly show if there's interest or not.

I actually think its doing very well considering the 3DS has been saturated with great games recently. 100k in Japan and 130k in Japan+EU FW is not bad at all.
