I guess Microsoft could afford a loss like that but the reasoning behind such a move is questionable, wouldn't it just be better to sell it fully unlocked at $600 and break even, sure it would be too pricey for some, but it would still be more powerful than the PS4 and cheaper than a gaming PC with similar power, and the price would go down over time making it more affordable later in the gen (like the PS3 last gen). Yeah, you'd think that some of these major tech sites would have noticed the same telltale signs of stacking that those on misterx's site claim to have found. It's definitely pretty fishy. Unless Microsoft paid them to keep it secret as part of their supposed secrecy plan, but it'd be hard to keep a lid on it even then. I actually think that the Xbox One could handle the heat, they put that big fan directly below an intake vent for a reason, I think they could cool it if they increased the fan speed enough, might make it as noisy as the 360 though, at least while gaming, but I think I saw something on misterx's site about it having a seperate low power mode for media consumption so that it stays quiet for that. Power on the other hand I'm not sure of, is the X1's power supply rated high enough to power everything once the chipset is fully enabled? |
Funny thing, when I first played the TitanFall beta, after I finished a round or two blazing excitement, I heard this sound. I thought at first it was coming from outside, I had no idea what it was. Then realized it was my Xbox One's Fan. It must have gotten hot and turned itself up high, for about 20-30 seconds. Then went back to being totally quiet.
It did it one other time on Project Spark Beta. Then I moved it a bit so it could get better airflow. It has not done it since. Nor has it ever done it other than those two times. I put my hand and could feel some heat coming from and off the unit. I think it was not as hot as my 360.
It was late so I kept the sound volume really, low. So it wasn’t very loud, perhaps at little louder than my Xbox 360 S when it was at full speed.
