One could argue that the reason that Mistwalker has only been developing smaller mobile titles the last few years is because they're working on a larger project on the side. Given their history with Microsoft, the fact that Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were their two bestselling games, and the rumor that Sakaguchi doesn't get along with Sony, an Xbox One exclusive seems likely to me.
Actually they don't seem too capable of making the titles themselves. Mistwalker focuses on game design rather than game programming ... Sony also doesn't get along with sakaguchi after that flop called "final fantasy the spirits within" so I can see why their both on bad terms. I don't think nintendo liked the fact that the last story flopped considering the massive marketing campaign in japan with the large development budget.
Once could also argue the same thing about Tri-Ace, that they're working on a larger project on the side while smaller teams make those mobile titles. Tri-Ace has been one of Microsoft's biggest supporters in Japan, releasing both a full exclusive and a timed exclusive on the 360.
The only full exclusive I remember them putting out is infinite undiscovery and the timed exclusive thing was probably because they started development on the PS3 late.
I only list Tri-Crescendo as a possibility since they released Eternal Sonata as a timed exclusive on the 360. As for Namco Bandai beinf their publisher, I don't see how that effets anything, Namco Bandai has supported the 360 in the past and continues to support it with certain series, such as CyberConnect2's Ultimate Ninja series.
It's true that namco supported the xbox 360 but with the PS4 being a success seemingly and the fact that microsoft looks a bit reluctant to fund japanese 3rd party support I don't think you'll be seeing tri crescendo titles on the X1 anytime soon considering they develop JRPGs and we all know how the Sony fanbase likes to gobble'm up.
Square Enix actually has made an exclusive for Microsoft in the past, The Last Remant, which is why I list them as a possibility. Microsoft has mighty deep pockets, if anybody could afford a Square Enix exclusive in this day and age it's Microsoft.
The last remnant would have came to the PS3 had it not flopped and cropped up with development issues.
As for Level-5, they're already supporting the Xbox One with the multiplat RPG Wonderflick, given the recent success of Ni No Kuni I could see Microsoft paying for an exclusive from them, possibly a new IP, or at the very least giving Level-5 some incentive to go multiplat.
Wonder flick is on every platform LOL. I don't think it's supposed mean that level 5 will be putting out high budgeted and ambitious titles on the X1.
Namco Tales going multiplat isn't impossible, Vesperia is currently their 2nd best-selling Tales game because it released on two platforms instead of one, that's bound to be some incentive to go multiplat, it's likely that the only reason that they haven't gone multiplat is because Sony is paying for exclusivity, but that may eventually become to costly for Sony to continue, or Microsoft could outbid them and get anotehr timed exclusive like they did with Vesperia.
I don't think Sony is known for doing this whole paid exclusivity stuff and if it is paid exclusivity, its probably because Sony funded it ... The reason why tales of series hasn't went multiplat yet is because the Sony fanbase treats their JRPGs better than the nintendo or microsoft fanbase. Microsoft could outbid them since I doubt Sony is the one paying for exclusivity but microsoft doesn't take japan seriously like Sony does so I'm not sure on that one ...
Team Ninja was multiplat throughout all of last-gen and their games have proved quite successful on the 360. Despite the recent rumors of a PS4 exclusive from them, it's also possible that it's a planned multiplat game and PS4 was only mentioned because the Xbox One heasn't been released in Japan yet.
It's tecmo koei so they'll probably be multiplat for the most part ...
Arc System Works was also multiplat throughput last gen, it was only recently that they announced two Sony exclusives. It's not out of the question that Microsoft could lure them back with some incentive to go multiplat again.
Doubt it since microsoft wants to let Sony have grounds in japan and they'll probably be releasing the X1 in Q4.
Access Games isn't that bad off. Deadly Premontion wasn't bad, it was just polarizing, some hated it, some loved it. It's sales were decent. And don't forget that Access developed Drakengard 3 recently, which got good reviews and pretty strong sales in Japan.
Alot of their games score below a 70 on metacritic and sell less than 500K copies so I'm not sure what you find good about them ... Drakengard 3 flopped even in japan seeing as how it's currently only sold 160K in japan.
In short, my argument is that Microsoft knows they need to do better in Japan this gen than last gen. They know which Japanese games sold the best on the 360, and therefore which developers would give the biggest benefit to the Xbox One if they developed exclusives. And they have very deep pockets.
The problem with your agument is that Sony didn't fuck up with the PS4 so I highly doubt ANY japanese developers will be ignoring Sony aside from Microsoft paying a couple of japanese developers here and there so theres practically no chance of microsoft trying to capitalize on japan.
