So new IP from Rare this year, not Banjo 3? Hmm.

Rare is working on 2-3 projects, and as ive mentioned countless times i expect more Rare ip will be outsourced from this point forward.

Rare has always been about new ip and as ive been predicting the one theyve been talking about is a new ip

Hopefully they outsource it internally(Team Dakota, Launchworks, etc...), where they can supervise it and at the same time give those teams experience on AAA budget titles.

Is Team Dakota working on anything besides Project Spark?  I feel like i read they were somewhere, but idk.  But yeah, they would be great fro a Banjo or Conker game.   But yeah, Rare supervised Conker in PS and it turned out really good.  Same with KI (as far as i know) and again it turned out really well.  I think Phil sees that and will approve of other devs doing the same.  Battletoads and Banjo are both rumored, so lets see who is working on them if they are indeed in the works

The problem is that they have currently no internal teams large enough to outsource their bigger IP's like Perfect Dark, Banjo, and Conker to, all of their AAA dev teams are busy developing other games right now. Outsourcing smaller IP's like Battletoads and Viva Pinata to smaller internal teams like Team Dakota, Press Play, and Launchworks would work, but Lionhead, but they'd have to outsource the bigger stuff like Banjo, Conker, and Perfect Dark to 2nd or 3rd party studios, and that's risky at best. Rare should has a large team handling their own classic IP's imo, it's ok if there's a 2nd large team that likes to experiment with new IP, but both large teams shouldn't be concentrating on new IP.

Perfect Dark isnt being made, that is confirmed.  Kenn Lobb ruled that out, but left us hints that others may be in the works.

And if you know anything about MSFT, they do a lot of 2nd party work so you are looking at this in a very narrow vision thinking only first party devs are capable of this.  Take Killer Instinct and Phantom Dust as an example.

PS: Banjo and Conker wouldnt require a large team.  Theyre nothing more than AA games

I feel like if it's a standalone device they shouldn't be wasting time at the Xbox E3 conference talking about it, but maybe that's just me, lol. I don't really like them wasting some of our precious 90 minutes at E3 talking about games for a device that will cost more than Xbox One itself, far out of the price range of many Xbox owners. And I've heard alot of other Xbox owners say the same thing.

Ah but I guess it's really no different from previous years in the long run, where they've wasted time with extra talking, or with silly musical acts, among other things. MS never really got that E3 is supposed to be all about core gamers, because they're the primary viewers of E3. Last year was the first year in quite awhile where the E3 show was all about core gamers, but this year it seems like they're straying from the path again.

I totaly agree they shouldn't spend time talking about Hololens at E3 especialy if they are to talk about PC games.

They should hold a separate even before E3 for PC and Hololens imo... leave E3 for their console gaming.

Which is a real shame imo, it's perfecr for the Xbox fanbase. Also, I wouldn't take Kenn Lobb's word as law, not after all the stuff he said about Phantom Dust in that interview turned out to be false. He could just be trying to conceal the fact that it's in development (probably wishful thinking though).

Yes, but there's always risk when relying on 2nd parties, Phantom Dust recently showed us this. Rare is capable of delivering good games from their own classic IP's that's pretty much a sure thing, that's why they should always have 1 of their 2-3 teams working on classic IP imo, while the other 1-2 develop new IP.

The point of discussion is they have Gears and Halo for shooters.  They dont need another one.  He said if they do work on one it would be different, maybe a stealth shooter or something.  I dont really see that as a shame, he is right about that. We dont know

There is a risk whether it be first or second party.  A dev is a dev, and first and second is a name.  What matters is the execution.    And yes they are capable of making good games, i know this, but Rare has always been about innovation and new ip.  Thats why they expand across pretty much every genre and have such a huge list of ip.

And again they have 2-3 projects so there is no reason to speculate on if they have or havent been working on an old ip.

Quantum Break, I like games from Remedy a lot and I hope this will be great as well.
