Just started a playthrough of Tomb Raider. Really liking it. Searched for a few ROTR screenshots and this one is my favorite:

Exploring this area looks like it could be a lot of fun. It reminds me of Ellie's winter gameplay in TLOU, with the winter setting, bow, and female character. I love the setting here

Those graphics are amazing too. And yeah Tomb Raider was my favorite game of 2013,althiugh admittedly I played it in January 2014 :p

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Ouch, just got shot down by Double Fine:

Guess Sony paid for console exclusive rights, don't see why else they wouldn't release it on Xbox One, considering how much easier porting is this generation and the fact that Double Fine has a history with Microsoft.

I don't think Sony would pay for such a minor game.

Sony and Microsoft do obviously also pay for important Indie games and that since years. Maybe even Nintendo but I have no idea about these Indie games on Wii and Wii U.

Double Fine is a very well respected dev and Tim Schafer is the head of them, it's a big thing for many to get their games so no, it's not a minor game and very well worth to pay for as console publisher.  I mean, there is a reason why Broken Age was the most backed game ever on Kickstarter back then, many people love Tim Schafer and his games.

And if I look at the Kickstarter campaigns for Broken Age and Massive Chalice and how they are both coming to one console which wasn't mentioned in the campaign if I'm not wrong (Broken Age to PS4 and Massive Chalice to XBO) I think Sony and MS paid for exclusivity on console or at least timed exclusivity.

If they did its a waste of money then, as no one would buy either console for these kind of games.

Waste or not, I'm 100% sure that Sony and MS pay some Indie devs. Talking about Double Fine, maybe they didn't even pay for console exclusivity as main reason but to even bring the games to console (which then includes this exclusivity but well).

Why shouldn't Sony and MS pay Double Fine to bring one of their games only meant to be for PC also to their console? That Sony and MS paid for Indie games like Journey and the likes is well known and I see no reason to believe that they wouldn't pay for a game to also come to console even if it is already in development for PC.

If they wouldn't think that investing in Indie games is worth it we wouldn't have Journey, Ori, No Man's Sky and many other games on console. Heck, they even use some of their stage time at E3 and other shows for these Indie games nowadays.

Journey is different. It was a PS3 exclusive and the IP is owned by Sony. Broken Age is not owned by Sony and neither is it a PS exclusive so it makes much less sense for them to back it financially just for console exclusive rights.

MS gives more leeway in such cases, sure, but MS is a smart company and allocates their resources well, so I don't think they will invest in such sort of games. Their main motive right now is to compete with PS4 using AAA exclusives, and these games don't fall in line with that.

Well, if you have to pay Double Fine maybe 500k or even less to bring Broken Age to PS4 (they only have to port it after all) I think it is very well worth it.

You really think it is coincidence that Double Fine brings Broken Age only to PS and Massive Chalice only to XBO? I just can't believe that personally.

And I know that Journey is only on PS, I mentioned that already in my post that it's different with Broken Age but that I don't doubt that they would still pay for games even if they are already in development for PC. You said you think nobody would buy consoles for these kind of games so that it would be also stupid to pay for Journey, just because it's full exclusive doesn't change that it's only a small indie game and paying for this is probably more expensive as to pay for a game also on PC (which is still like an exclusive for those who don't play on PC) so that I don't see how one thing is a waste of money and the other thing is totally useful.

You brought some valid points indeed, it could very well be the case that Sony and MS are paying small amounts for exclusivity of these games. That doesn't change my stance though, I think its a wasted investment and one that they would be better off putting somewhere else.
