All this Sega and Japanese talk! I'm just going to link my SoA fanpage here

lol

I'd love to see a Skies of Arcadia revival.

That'd be awesome! Love SoA, shame that Sega hasn't even done a HD port yet...

I didn't see your post before I made mine! Wasn't trying to be rude!

I always viewed Xbox as a spiritual successor to the Dreamcast.

Lol did I just start old Gen console war????
anyway I know Sega management was messed up at the time... But I had to blame it on someone and since I never felt the need to own a Sony device over an other brand in the same price range I have been keeping that line of thought :p

@iceland me too that's only because they panzer dragoon, jet set radio, pgr, crazy taxi that I got back into console gaming with the Xbox... And have been waiting for a Shenmue 3 ever since :)

anyway back on XBox subject....

Many others did as well.  Several games that were in development at the time of the Dreamcast's downfall switched over to the Xbox. The controller's are considered similar by many. Xbox Live continued the online gaming aspect of the Dreamcast. Sega and Microsoft were even in talks to add Dreamcast backwards compatibility to the original Xbox at one point, though the talks fell apart after Sega's President died. Sega is a relevant topic of the Xbox's past, and who knows, Sega could become a relevant topic of the Xbox's future as well, I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who hopes that Sega and Xbox will partner up to release some Sega exclusives on the Xbox One, I've seen other Xbox and Sega fans support that idea before.

But if you guys don't want to hear me blather on about Sega anymore, we can talk about something else. Sorry about my Sega tirade, I'm an unabashed Sega fanboy, I'll admit that much XD. So umm.... well, this is kind of Sega related since Crimson Dragon is the spiritual successor to Panzer Dragoon, but has anyone here played Crimson Dragon on the Xbox One yet? I'm really looking forward to playing it since it looks amazing in all of the gameplay videos that I've seen and it got good reviews from two of my favorite gaming publications, so I'd be interested to know if any of you guys have tried it and enjoyed it.

I haven't tried it yet but that's just because its not my type of game. I've been spending too much time with KI and BF4.

Yeah I am starting to get worried I won't find an Xbox One next weekend. Might snatch one up this week if I see one. I saw 2 at Best Buy early this week and within a few minutes when I returned, they were gone. I don't want to order online or pay for some huge bundle but maybe that will be my only shot.

@shik... i get that you're obviously a die-hard Sega fan.. and that's cool to see some are still out there, but I think that stalwart allegiance you have for them is sorta coloring your opinion of Sony with a little bias.
Sony wasn't just competing with Sega, Nintendo was in the mix also... and they've obviously come out fine. It's not like Sony focused all their might on destroying Sega, if anything, they had more of an axe to grind with Nintendo because of the failed partnership between the two companies. Nintendo kinda screwed 'em.
Sega was just a poorly run outfit at the time, and while the Saturn had plenty of 3d games, it was initially designed to be the foremost 2d sprite blaster ever to sit beside a t.v,...it wasn't until they caught wind of what Sony was up to that they changed the design.. almost last minute.. and picked some 3d tech off the shelves and jammed it in there.
I'm certainly one of those gamers that lost some faith in Sega, just felt cheated one too many times. that's where they went wrong.

Yeah, Sega was competing with Nintendo as well, but Nintendo really had little to do with Sega's downfall. Nintendo wasn't even in the picture for the first 2 years of the 5th generation, by the time Nintendo released the N64 in 1996, the combined Playstation hype and lower PS1 price had pretty much already killed the Saturn, so Nintendo really had little to do with the the Saturn's failure. The same goes for the 6th gen, the Gamecube didn't release until after the hype surrounding the PS2 had already killed the Dreamcast. When Sony entered the market in 1995, they concentrated their efforts first on eliminating the number 2 console manufacturer, once Sega was out of the way then they concentrated on beating Nintendo and the N64, which they also succeeded at, though Nintendo had the funds from the success of the previous generations as well as handheld sales to survive being beaten by Sony and the PS1.

your above references to Nintendo sorta help my point here... they were all calculated, smart business decisions to help sustain their company against the first mega-corporation to dive into video game consoles, one with deep pockets and massive name recognition.
Sega didn't fair as well because they were a just poorly run company.. and the mistakes they did make were their own. You can't blame Sony for that even though you desperately want to.
Nintendo did what they had to to avoid going head to head with Sony... Sega simply weren't that smart and to compound that, they'd already begun to lose their fanbase. Why do you think people were looking so forward to the first playstation? you can hype a product up all you want but if the demographic you're targeting is loyal to something else, success is going to be an uphill battle. That wasn't the case for Sony, because Sega had already shown gamers it cared more about money than it did the audience.. so you had thousands upon thousands of rather disenfranchised gamers looking for the next big thing.
That was Sega's fault. Alone.
Didn't happen to Nintendo right?
Like I said, Sega deserved what happened because they let it happen.
You can't blame Sony for walking through a door that Sega seemed more than happy to hold open.

Well they said they got some Japanese Xbox One games to announce so it isn't that far fetched that some game(s) could be from Sega especially since they have some history of working together. Maybe a new JSR? Naganuma wants to make one!

Yeah, that was my hope as soon as I heard about Microsoft signing several Japanese games for the Xbox One. Nagamuma wants to make a new Jet Set Radio, Yu Suzuki wants to make another Shenmue (and Sega themselves have said that they'd be open to console exclusivity in exchange for funding Shenmue III), Ed Annunziata wants to make another Ecco the Dolphin. Microsoft and Sega need to make those games happen. Hopefully Crimson Dragon will sell enough copies to convince Microsoft that reviving other old Sega franchises would be a smart decision.

I had the same thought, I hope Crimson Dragon does well. What would be enough though? Sadly I don't think the game is doing that well, I wish MS would release some digital sales numbers, I really want to see how well KI is doing also.
