I like that there are options. For me, I had to be honest with myself. I honestly didn't think there was much use for Kinect outside voice commands. It is what it is. I feel that it was worth the extra money for me, but I understand how others would not want to pay that price. 

Now they have an option. What's annoying is seeing people who didn't want Kinect, they remove it, and those same people are complaining about how MS doesn't have a vision now.

Love my kinect but ive said it once and will say it again, i see no future for core games and kinect unless it is controller first and features like face scanning for characters which im positive will be implemented in future games.   Itll also do well in dance games or other games similar to it but you can always go for the extra $100 if you want those type of games or face scanning etc.  For me Kinect is an aweomse purchase because i find its media superb.  I use my XBO daily and love not having to pick up a controller to watch netflix etc But again for games it doesnt have a major importance for more core games so the option is now do you want it or not.  i see no harm in that.
