It was actually the first FF game I ever played, I actually came away fairly impressed, though the linearity was somewhat dissapointing.

And yeah, I agree with the linearlity, but to me that's never been a major issue like for others. It definitely didn't break the game for me. But I do prefer other JRPGs on the 360 to XIII.
