RIP Indies
Indies and Arcade games well done on Xbox, have proved to stack up against some bigger studio games though.
State of Decay topped half million in about 10 days and 1 million announced in October, although it had it's fair share of technical problems. It gives me hope that people are willing to overlook those over fun gameplay.

Speaking of which, what do you all want out of the new Undead Labs game?
Deus Ex Trademark
Square Enix have filed a trademark for another Deus Ex game, titled "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided".
Last year David Anfossi posted some information about their next gen game, so it's likely that this trademark is for that game:
"I'm pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise."
So, we probably have a title, but that's about it. This does however mean we'll likely hear news regarding the new title in the franchise either at E3 or Gamescom this year.

State of Decay is one of the few exceptions that sold on par with some AA and AAA games, but State of Decay isn't really an indie game, it's more of an A or AA game, it's budget was a good bit higher than most indies as far as I know. The only indie I can think of that has sold on par with AA and AAA games is Castle Crashers, which sold at least 2.6 million on the 360. I think LIMBO might have hit 1 million on the 360. But these are exceptions like I said, most indie games sell in the 100-500k range. |
SOD is an Arcade game, but I feel that Undead Lab has an Indie image. They weren't staffed, neither they had budget of a B game. I remember they said they couldn't release patches and DLCs earlier because they didn't have enough people. Plus State of Decay was like a rite of passage for them to get big contract with MS.
They got it recently. Also, they formed a fanbase that will follow them faithfully. I'm one waiting on Class 4.
Not disagreeing with you. I don't have an Indie craze to be honest.
I'm more into Arcade games on XBLA. Most of those are quality games with low prices. Splosion man, Iron Brigade, Mark of the Ninja, Shadow Complex etc...
I'll put my 3000th post on my favourite Vgchartz thread :) .
Damn I feel like I've fallen behind everyone in terms of post counts xD
Ryu, Shikamaru, Goatseye, and Slade are all ahead of me.
BTW this is my 2,000th post :O
